2. WR Quincy Porter — Ohio State
Quincy Porter looked the part of On3’s top-ranked wide receiver prospect on the East team at the Navy All-American Bowl on Tuesday. The Ohio State signee was the first player on the field before practice during both periods. He appeared to be on a mission from the start. Porter cuts an imposing figure at 6-foot-3.5 and over 200 pounds with plus length. The New Jersey native did what he wanted during 1-on-1’s on Tuesday. He showed arguably the best route-running skills of the East wide receiver group. Porter earned consistent separation and flashed the ability to run the full route tree.

Even when the passes weren’t on target, Porter was generally open. He came down with an impressive high-point grab over Dalen Penson, who was one of the top defenders on the day. We also saw Porter use his length to separate against 2026 corner Jorden Edmonds and hit J’Zavien Currence with a nasty in-breaking route. The route-running nuance pairs with good ball skills, as Porter catches with nice technique, framing the football with his hands. — Charles Power
I just don’t know what to think about the all American games anymore. A lot of the best players are already on campus. So strange.

Quincy Porter is a stock-up prospect at wide receiver and put himself squarely in the five-star conversation after a statement week in San Antonio. The future Buckeye is a sight to see at 6-foot-3 and almost 200 pounds. He navigates downfield with ease and plays well in contested catch situations. Porter has a soundness to his game and is impressive with his polish and college-ready frame. In Saturday's game, Porter was excellent coming back to the football. He made several wow grabs and plays with the rock in his hand. The stock-riser from New Jersey broke through for two big YAC plays in the game. The Ohio State signee is tough to wrangle in the open field and a true threat on the perimeter like few receivers in this class.

Quincy Porter moved up to a 5 star at 247 (#4 WR and #31 overall). Now a composite 5 star and 20th overall.

– WR Quincy Porter (No. 31), Ohio State: We entered the final rankings update hoping that a wide receiver would play his way into a fifth star and Porter did just that. A game-breaker under the lights with 38 touchdowns in 37 career varsity games, the big-framed target attacks leverage with a galloping stride and breaks off cornerbacks with swift suddenness. He's just now scratching the surface of what he can be.
Porter gives the retooling Buckeyes a linear threat with size and someone is going to have to flank Jeremiah Smith over the next two years.

Missed this one but well deserved. If he blocks in Hartline's scheme, he could be seeing the field but long term he is going to be a monster. You can't help but think ahead a couple years where you could have JJ, Henry Jr and Porter on the field...dear lord what a mismatch in size.

Better Know a Buckeye: Quincy Porter's Size Paired With His Do-It-All Ability As a Wide Receiver Will Allow Him to Flourish at Ohio State

154084_h.jpg

Immediate Impact

Even with the departure of Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State's wide receiver room is as loaded as it has been in the Hartline era, a statement that one can make seemingly every offseason in the Ryan Day era.

Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss will take up the top three spots on the depth chart and Bryson Rodgers and Mylan Graham are in line to be their top backups, but Porter has the size and intangibles to compete for a spot on the two-deep as a freshman, especially as an early enrollee.

Long-Term Impact

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Porter profiles as a terrific outside receiver in OSU's offensive scheme with a limitless ceiling, especially while learning from the likes of Hartline and his peers.

With his frame, Porter will be a reliable red zone target for Ohio State. His size paired with his speed and blocking ability in the run game will make him a tough matchup for smaller defensive backs. Porter's skillful route running allows him to get past defensive backs of similar size and his frame allows him to bully smaller cornerbacks on the outside.

“I think Quincy really is a bigger receiver that is a different style than we've probably had," Day said of Porter in December. "Obviously Jeremiah's big, but Quincy really – we loved his film going into last year. We felt like the game that he had against Chaminade, against Jeremiah's team the year before, was the one that really separated him for us. He really competed well, played well, and then you saw the season he had for Bergen Catholic this year.

“It's a state championship program and he's a big physical guy. And when you look at those guys, you look at where Marvin Harrison Jr. was as a junior and senior in high school, Jeremiah's a little bit different," Day continued. "But those bigger guys, they grow into their bodies and just become stronger and faster. We think all that's going to happen with Quincy. Got a great work ethic, works really hard.”

All of that gives Porter a chance to be the next star wide receiver for Ohio State. Even with so much talent already in the room (and the top-tier wideouts Hartline will continue to bring in), Porter should push for legitimate playing time as early as his sophomore season and by his third season in Columbus at the very latest.
