Jenkins loves playing with McNabb

When the Minnesota Vikings made numerous changes to their roster in the offseason, most of the attention centered on the addition of six-time Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb. One of the moves lost in the shuffle was the signing of former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Michael Jenkins to a three-year free-agent deal.
Jenkins spent seven years in Atlanta after the Falcons drafted him 29th overall in 2004. He caught 276 passes for 3,512 yards and 20 touchdowns and had his best season in 2008, when he caught 50 passes for 777 yards. Last season, he played in only 11 games after suffering a shoulder injury in August.
As Jenkins, 29, gets a fresh start in Minnesota, he is the subject of this edition of 5 Questions.
1. KG: How has the transition gone from Atlanta to Minnesota so far?
JENKINS: It's going good, actually. I'm trying to get used to this cooler summer weather, but the people here have been great to me so far. I have been able to make a great connection with the team, the organization and all the players here. I feel very comfortable in the huddle, and it's been great to build some chemistry with Donovan (McNabb), I think we're going to work well together all season. It's been a good transition.

Ex-Leto WR Jenkins making an impact with Vikings
By IRA KAUFMAN | The Tampa Tribune
Published: September 14, 2011
TAMPA --
Former Tampa Leto standout Michael Jenkins is off to a promising start with his new team and Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier isn't surprised.
A first-round pick of the Falcons in 2004, Jenkins spent seven years in Atlanta, catching 276 passes and 20 touchdowns before signing with Minnesota at the start of free agency.
"Michael Jenkins has been a joy,'' Frazier said Wednesday as the Vikings began preparations for the Week 2 home matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "He's very professional, a guy who works extremely hard every day in practice. He's a good teammate, a solid leader in the locker room and a very good football player.''
Jenkins, 29, accounted for Minnesota's only offensive touchdown in the season-opening loss at San Diego, catching a three-yard scoring pass from Donovan McNabb while lined up in the slot.
"We're fortunate to have him,'' Frazier said. "We were surprised Atlanta had to make the move and for us to be able to acquire him was a big deal for our football team. We think as the year goes on, it'll be one of the best moves we made.''
WR Michael Jenkins - Did you know that Michael Jenkins had nine receptions for 88 yards against the Lions on Sunday? Or that five of those nine receptions went for first downs? Or that he's currently leading the Vikings in both receptions (15) and receiving yards (143)? As I've said on a couple of different occasions, Jenkins wasn't the biggest or flashiest signing of this off-season, but he has been very good for this team, and has provided a reliable set of hands for Donovan McNabb's. . .shall we say, erratic. . .passes to travel towards.

Jenkins hasn't forgotten missed opportunity against Packers
By D. Orlando Ledbetter
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
FLOWERY BRANCH -- Michael Jenkins periodically flashes back to that January night at the Georgia Dome. He ran the perfect route and was behind Green Bay cornerback Tramon Williams.
But as Matt Ryan?s pass started to descend, Jenkins had to stop and make an adjustment. Attempting to plant his feet so he could thrust his 6-foot-5 frame upward to the ball, he slipped. Williams made an interception. Instead of the Falcons taking a 21-14 lead, the Packers had the ball and eventually took control of the game.
If Jenkins comes up with that catch, perhaps the Falcons are Super Bowl champs, Jenkins is still with the Falcons and there would have been no need to make the Julio Jones trade.
?It did happen, though, and everything happens for a reason,? said Jenkins, who?ll face his old team as one of the Minnesota Vikings? top receivers on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
