WR Michael "Cantguardmike" Thomas (B1G Champion, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All-Pro, 2019 OPOY)

Keyshawn Johnson: Nephew Michael Thomas is 'bigger, faster' Marques Colston

Keyshawn Johnson can’t take full credit for the New Orleans Saints drafting his nephew, wide receiver Michael Thomas.

But just in case Saints coach Sean Payton needed some extra prodding, Johnson provided it when he caught up with his former offensive coordinator from the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year at ESPN’s studios.

“Sean asked me what I think. I said he’s a bigger, faster Colston, to me,” Johnson said, referring to the Saints’ all-time leading receiver, Marques Colston.

“If you’re striving to be someone in the National Football League, Marques Colston is [somebody you want to be],” Johnson said. “So if you ask me, ‘Well, what is he?’ There you go, that’s what he is. Bigger and faster, and he’s Marques Colston 2.0 or whatever you want to call him.”

He's in a great situation too. Pass-happy offense, Colston retired leaving him to be the 'big' target & he doesn't have to be 'the guy' right away like some rookies do.

WHAT NFL TEAMS ARE SAYING ABOUT OHIO STATE'S NON-FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS FOLLOWING MINICAMP

Last week, we took a trip around the NFL circuit to see what teams were saying about Ohio State's five first-round draft picks following the conclusion of league minicamps. The results, as expected, were fairly positive as each player figures to make an impact as a rookie.

But, as you're well-aware, the 2016 NFL Draft was a historic night for the Buckeyes as they had seven additional players selected after the first round. There's a strong chance some of those picks are high-impact rookies, as well.

Here are some things NFL teams are saying about the former Ohio State players they recently selected in the NFL Draft:

MICHAEL THOMAS — NEW ORLEANS SAINTS WIDE RECEIVER

"His improvement over these six practices has been awesome," Brees said recently, via CBS Sports. "From day one until now, the same mistakes are not being made. He's on to the next set of challenges, and he's continuing to progress well."
