WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Frosh/WR of Year, All-American, 2025 Rose Bowl Off MVP, National Champion)

Sometimes I think these “superstar x got cut when he was a kid” stories are a little misleading.

Was he trying to make a team full of kids 2 years older or something? Because there is just no way Smith’s level of athleticism wasn’t showing itself at 11 years old. Guys like him are different from normal humans of the same age from very early on.

Peewee football in SoFL is INSANELY competitive! Like where it rivals some states HS! Like, guys betting on 7 and 8yos in the stands, and coaches making their name for themselves and getting promotions to MS and HS based off of finding guys in Peewee leagues. As good as JJ is now, I can definitely see where he wasn't good enough at that age, because he probably didn't take it as serious as some of his peers. But then you saw what he did afterwards, it awakened a beast in him.
Texas is another state which insanely competitive youth football as well(the show: Friday Night Tykes was infamous for showing this)

Also to go with pnuts post above, politics is huge in youth sports. I once was hired by a group of parents to coach because I was not a dad and would be fair - I hated them all equally and made them all run. LOL
