They fucked up last year, so not shocking. At least giving it to a freshman is rare. It’s hard to win individual awards when you’re doubled almost every play and your offense runs at a very slow pace.

“Lemon had better numbers” doesn’t mean shit when it’s not a numbers award and he had less than 100 yards more than Smith. Almost as annoying as LSU fans obsessively bitching about Nabers losing to Harrison in ‘23.
