WR James Louis (transfer to FIU)

I don't think James was trying to deceive anyone...it sounds like knows he didn't handle the situation properly and it also sounds like he regrets that and is just trying to figure out where is the best place for him to spend the next 3-5 years. I have a hard time getting upset at an 18-year old about that. Should he know better? You'd like to hope so...but that doesn't mean he is a bad guy or anything like that. I think more than anything he was hoping to take the visit quietly so that way he wouldn't upset the OSU staff. Although anyone that follows OSU recruiting knows that JT and the staff would probably have encouraged him to take the visit...because we know JT wants to build his program with 85 kids who desperately want to be a part of the traidtion that is OSU football.

Like one genius elitist (er, BPRT member) said back in December:

I still see James signing with OSU...but nothing would shock me at this point (and nothing ever does anymore when it comes to recruiting).

Dude, you're giving up your identity... We're only supposed to refer to each other as Mr. Blue, Mr. Scarlet, Mr. Black, and Mr. Green... No real names or hints. :)

I personally don't know what comes of this... James may have had some 'splainin to do to the tOSU staff on this one, but it's hard to envision JT being anything but supportive and encouraging him to be sure of his decision... I hope James does come here because he's an obvious talent... But if he doesn't, it could just mean we land one more stud next year... We always seem to be like "Even Stephen"... Lose one, gain one. Many times it works out for the best as well, so it's hard to get upset about any of it.

Does Florida even have enough room for him?

That's the dilema...if they do, he's a Gator. That has likely been the scenario for awhile now. We just need to sit back and chill...perhaps it's just me, but I'm numb to getting snubbed at this point. Let's not get too hasty, because a lot of people were nearing some regretable words about Brian Rolle when he was in the same situation...if Florida offered late, he wouldn't be a Buckeye. But he is, we're happy, and life went on.

The original word out of Florida was that JL committed to Ohio State out of spite for UF as much as anything else. He's then visited by the coaches/officially visits/develops a relationship with the staff. However, he never goes through the recruiting process like other kids. His heart was on UF and they denied him. Then he went straight to OSU.

The visits to UNC and VaTech are him realizing that he's running out of time to check out his options. UNC and VaTech were the two schools that were on him before he verbaled to OSU. These aren't new players that will turn his head around. They've already given their best pitches to him.

He hates phone calls and media scrutiny. The ignoring of the media isn't him hiding his visit to UF; it's simply par for the course of his recruitment. There is nothing heinous going on here.

In the end, it will come down to Ohio State and Florida. Our best bet is Florida not accepting him. Two situations I've been watching are Dillon Baxter and Travon Von. Baxter just reaffirmed his early enrollment to USC.The Travon Von grades dilemma appears to be going until signing day, at least. This is probably good for us.

The other hope is that Coach Hazell has developed a great relationship with JL. Which is entirely possible. In any case, this one is going until signing day. I still feel that he will be a Buckeye.

So it's our fault when he claims to not have visited Gainesville when many saw him there?
Who said it was?
Not really, that didn't affect his decision whatsoever.
Not sure what your trying to say here, I wasn't creating a parallel for this purpose from one to the other? I was talking about how opinions on the Internet can become facts in others minds just because they read it on the internets.
No one prefers innuendo over first hand accounts
I'm not so , being a staff guy you read more of these threads than I do, but come on there are plenty of gossips on here.

, but likewise no one is going to be naive enough to believe that quotes are accurate just because they are from the recruit.
Kids say things. Sometimes they build suspense, sometimes they just tell these reporters anything to get them to stop calling, sometimes they lie, sometimes they tell the truth.

In the south, a commitment is often just a progress report. So many kids from the SEC region (and more recently expanding across the nation) are "firmly committed" but taking visits.

Firmly committed kids don't keep talking to Florida and take visits there.
How many firmly committed kids visit other schools from "the SEC" region and stay committed to the original commitment? Any ideas on a percentage?

His first love has always been Florida. Nothing wrong with that, or visiting Gainesville. It just makes it hard to buy that he's firmly committed even if the quote is first-hand (in this case it's second hand info unless James wrote the piece).
I consider quotes, that aren't put in any kind of misleading context, first hand knowledge.

Wow.

I have never been engaged by so many administrators and moderators from a forum, considering I own one and am members of others, I think it's kinda cool, thanks for the attention to my opinion, even if they don't agree.

Hopefully JL comes here- if not- oh well.

The glaring lack of Gray and overuse of Black has me questioning the commitment to tradition of those involved.

Furthermore Blue is the color of the enemy and it's use is appalling.

You're confusing knowledge and statements. Sure he has first hand knowledge, but that doesn't mean he admitted that he was in Gainesville.

Support imho doesn't come from questioning a persons honesty which I feel is being done by some, on dozens of Louis threads started on numerous sites when not taking him for his word. It has a snowball effect(Floyd and Urban come to mind). Before you know it, one person's post/opinion can turn into dozens, then hundreds, etc. BN did a great story on the effect of the message board in a recruits decision. Recruits have come and said they have decommitted from a school because of what fans were saying on these boards. I believe it was a Wisky recruit last year.
You made a lot of parallels here between the two, even if they were unintentional.

I have no idea on a percentage, though that would be interesting to read. The point isn't whether they flip, but the fluid nature of verbals down south. In SEC recruiting, the saying goes a verbal just tells you who to attack. (because they currently lead)

Is it a coincidence that they chose the two colors from MI?

For the record, I've always considered Louis to be gravy. High end gravy, but a luxury nonetheless. He obviously loves Florida and chose OSU quickly in the summer. I'd be glad if he signs with OSU, but I'm sure I'd do the same if I were in his shoes and OSU could maybe squeeze me in.

...
Delray Beach Atlantic receiver James Louis made a surprise visit to Gainesville. The Ohio State commit was courted by Florida early, but both sides drifted apart. The Gators are still looking to sign at least one more receiver in this class.
