WR Duron Carter (Official Thread)

He definitely catches the ball well (just like his old man) he must have huge hands to be able to make it look so nonchalant. His dad was one of the best at catching everything thrown his way, the hard ball and the easy catch alike, and with his dad teaching him the tricks of the trade, Duron could turn out to be a special one.

Duron and his father both have massive hands... I'm 6-1 245 and their hands completely swallowed mine...

By no means am I an expert...but his technique looked a bit akward. That's just my casual fan thought when seeing that short bit of film on him. Seems like a great kid though!

I understand what you are saying but I see it as more polish than awkward...or at least progression to polish. The kid is obviously getting a higher level of instruction than 99% of HS players...but the technique is not as simple as coaching it. Its definitely a work in progress but it always will be. He runs good routes and has the natural ability...now that polish will remove the robotic movements you see at times.

You will see anywhere from 100-2000 reps cited before true muscle memory takes over. Now imagine every movement in a route, swing, jumpshot, etc...perfect reps to progress to a perfect movement.

Anyway, back to Duron.

Watching the limited tape, looking at the speed numbers, and knowing he's Carter's son.. you assume this kid a really polished possesion receiver.. but the guy from Florida Varsity, who knows his stuff, told us over on Rivals that this kid is one of the best after the catch runners in Florida..

Rivals $

4/22

From FlaVarsity...talks about his impressions of Ohio State after his visit and how it exceeded his expectations. Talks about hanging out with the other Florida recruits and Coach Haynes and how Pryor agreed to give up the #2 jersey if Duron wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. Auburn, Minnesota and Wisconsin have all offered in the last week.
