Massillon WR Joins Long List Of Talented Juniors | Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball – Bucknuts.com

The class of 2011 wide receiver class in Ohio is already very strong, and it is getting stronger. Early offers have already come in for Trotwood Madison's AJ Jordan, Northmont's Josh McClain, Springfield's Byron Thompson, and Dayton Dunbar's Roger Williamson.

A name that should start getting more attention is Devin Smith from Massillon Washington. Devin Smith played his freshman and sophomore football at Akron Ellet High School and transferred to Massillon this season.

Only two games into 2009, there is not much film to share on Smith, but at 6-2 and 175 pounds he fits the mold to play WR in college. Devin Smith has a frame that will remind some of Chris Fields or DeVier Posey and is working to develop some of the same football skills. Smith flashed some big time ability as I was scouting him this season and should be a prospect to watch when it comes to Ohio State recruiting.

MASSILLON ? Facing essentially a must-win game at Massillon, the Warren Harding football team watched its playoff hopes fade away Friday night.
. . .
After a scoreless first quarter, Massillon got on the board first, taking a 6-0 lead when quarterback Robert Partridge hooked up with Devin Smith for a 32-yard scoring toss with 10:04 left in the second quarter.

Powell caught three passes for 83 yards and two TDs ? the second a 5-yard fade route to put McKinley up, 28-14, early in the third. Powell also spent most of the afternoon defending Massillon star receiver Devin Smith after not playing defense all season. Smith?s one catch Saturday didn?t come until the final minute.

I was impressed with Smith last night...His ability to get open, and get deep on Bryant. The balls from the Massilon QB were not very well thrown at times, but this kid has the talent and it was evident to see. He is in the conversation as top WR in the state and maybe for an offer, but there are guys like the two from STA that will be in the conversation and we have already offered Wynn...
