RB07OSU;2048980; said:For sure. I think if he puts together a decent workout, he goes mid-to-late first round. Super smooth out of his breaks, good size, good top end speed, good blocker downfield, and strong hangs. Above all, excellent body control when he goes up for the ball. All the makings of a good pro. Seems like yesterday when I was predicting him to be a 5 star after watching his junior film at LaSalle. He really had a great career here and I think he was open much more than his statistics will show. If he is available early 2nd round, I would love for my Bengals to pick him up to put him opposite of Green. (I know, I know, nobody else will wish that upon him )
Ohio State spotlight: WR DeVier Posey
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Friday December 30, 2011
Kyle Robertson | Dispatch
DeVier Posey will cap a senior season that almost never was with his last game as an Ohio State player today in the Gator Bowl vs. Florida.
Having to serve a 10-game suspension to start the year for various NCAA rules transgressions, he opted to stick around, even it meant playing in just his last two regular-season games. Yet when he finally was cleared, the veteran brought instant credibility to the wide receiver position again for the Buckeyes, though they lost both of those games, to Penn State and Michigan.
Now comes Florida, one last chance for Posey as a Buckeye.
?It is so important that I leave this place with a win that caps four years of hard work,? Posey said this week. ?It would be so nice to win this last game with my best friends.?
He had to sit out the first five games because of being one of the players who received improper benefits from a tattoo parlor owner. He had to sit out the next five primarily for what the NCAA deemed to be inflated remuneration for a part-time job provided by a booster in the Cleveland area.
It?s not difficult to see what he could have meant to the Buckeyes in what turned out to be a 6-6 regular season. Playing in just the last two games he still had seven catches, including one for a touchdown. OSU?s top pass-catching wide receiver was Corey ?Philly? Brown with a mere 14 catches, including just one for a TD, while freshman Devi Smith had 12 receptions, four for touchdowns.
darbypitcher22;2075720; said:You would have thought with him being a go-to guy over the last couple of years that when he was covered other guys were open, and that was Sanzenbacher.
If he would have played all 12 games this year I think it would have enhanced the development of the passing game. Him being doubled and tripled would have allowed some of those younger guys to get open underneath.
Posey plays nondescript final game

The Columbus Dispatch Tuesday January 3, 2012
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? DeVier Posey?s abbreviated senior season hardly ended the way he had envisioned.
In Ohio State?s 24-17 loss to Florida in the Gator Bowl yesterday, the receiver did have a 5-yard touchdown catch from Braxton Miller in the first half. But then there was a pass to the end zone in the second half that soared over his head, despite him being wide open, and a fumble he committed after a third-down catch.
?We were kind of beat on some things, missed some throws, had some big turnovers ? I know I had one, (running back Daniel Herron) had one,? said Posey, who had five catches for 38 yards and one rush for minus-6 yards. ?It was just kind of a rough day for our offense.
?Even with that, we were right there, minus the big special-teams plays. We just kind of wish we could have capitalized on some things earlier.?
Posey begged his way onto the onside kick team in the final minute after Ohio State cut the lead to the seven points. For an instant, after Drew Basil?s bounding kick, the play had possibilities, Posey said.
?I know I had to clear the first defender. I couldn?t see the ball, and then I saw this (Florida) guy right in front of me jump and get it,? Posey said. ?And I was like, ?Wow, I wish I?d had a visual on the ball so I would have been able to at least knock it out of his hands or something.? ?
He did have a visual on the catch he made for what looked like a third-down conversion midway through the third quarter. It occurred on a drive that had reached the Florida 43-yard line with the Buckeyes trailing 21-10.
?I just had a lapse. I had the ball loose, and the kid made a great play,? Posey said. ?The ball was everywhere, and it just sucks.?

Reports surfaced that Ohio State will be sending RB Dan Herron, LT Mike Adams, and C Mike Brewster to Mobile, Ala., later this month, as they had accepted invitations to the Senior Bowl. I have since spoken with Buckeye Sports Information Directors for football Jerry Emig. He had no knowledge of any of them accepting invites, but admitted that these are things he sometimes deals with on the back end. And to be honest, it's true. As a high-profile university?s sports information director your job is to deal with the tough stuff, not the nice invitation processes.
He said he hoped to ?have a few players in that game, but the only (thing like that) we?ve had in this office was sending a photo of DeVier Posey for the Shrine Game.? (Which is an interesting bit of news in itself.) The Shrine Game is generally considered to be the ?Senior Bowl Jr.? and Devier Posey would likely be poised for much more heralded billing as a prospect had he not missed 10 games last season due to suspension.
Posey Reflects On Rough Year
Heath Schneider
?I am definitely going to be cheering on my alma mater and promoting for those guys wherever they go because I know the kids and I know how much they want it and want to be great,? Posey said after Monday?s Gator Bowl loss to Florida.
Knowing that he was partly to blame for the situation the football program is in, Posey was humble in his reflection on the aftermath and this season. Remaining positive, Posey talked what this season taught him.
?It?s not a good football season as things go,? Posey said. ?What I?ve taken from it is a lot of knowledge that I?ve gained and a lot of knowledge that I?ve tried to share and a lot of growing. This is definitely a humbling experience.?

Football: Posey among Buckeyes invited to Senior Bowl
By Tim May
Columbus Dispatch Monday January 9, 2012
DeVier Posey?s senior season was cut to three games because of NCAA suspensions, but the Ohio State receiver still has been invited to take part in the Senior Bowl all-star game along with three other Buckeyes.
?It?s been a goal of mine since high school,? said Posey, whose invitation was due in no small part to the urgings of former OSU coach John Cooper. ?I am honored to represent Ohio State football and wear that silver helmet one more time. I am looking forward to taking advantage of this opportunity, as well.?
The Jan. 28 game in Mobile, Ala., pits the North against the South, but the week of workouts leading up to it has become a major evaluation period for NFL teams, who send coaches and scouts to watch. Other Buckeyes invited are center Michael Brewster, offensive tackle Mike Adams and running back Daniel Herron.
Posey played in only three games for the Buckeyes this season, catching 12 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. He was a four-year starter for Ohio State and leaves Columbus ranked in the top ten in career receptions (136-6th), receiving yards (1,955-8th) and receiving touchdowns (18-7th). He posted six 100-yard receiving games over the course of his career and caught a pass in each of his final 30 games played.
?Just to have the opportunity to represent my school one more time and put on that helmet, I feel like it?s a true blessing,? Posey said. ?This is something I?ve always wanted to do, I?ve been following this game since I?ve been in high school and I always thought that if I were around for four years in college that I would definitely want the opportunity to represent my school and play against the best of the best.?
?I definitely thought that this was a long shot and that?s why I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to go out and show what I have,? Posey added. ?I just want to make the most of my opportunity right now and can?t take it for granted at all. No days off and no plays off.?
