Just got back from the little league game, damn it's hot, brutal even. I had complete sypmathy for those kids, especially the catchers with all that gear on. My Kid Jake, plays catch for our team, he started the game with his head spray painted black (Team colors are green and black), by the second it was running down his face....
This is the end of season tournament, they won today, off to the championship, bummer is that they are coming out of the losers bracket and will have to beat this team 2ice in two days. It is the same team that put them in the losers bracket. Hopefully though, they will have a different ump than when they played the first time, that guy had the ankle high strike call down pat...
I think I have had more fun watching this team play than any in the 5 years worth of two kids (don't tell my youngest
) . Jake is in the 9-10 now and it is finally becoming baseball, watching them work rundowns, double plays, pick offs, it's just damn fun to watch, and the best part is that they are becoming freinds off the feild. It isn't like when I played little league where all the kids are from the sam 'hood, these guys live all over the area, but they love hanging out together.
The coach is talking about moving the whole team up to the next age level, although there are only 3 kids (I think) that aren't going to go up anyway. I now have to vacate my airconditioned haven. Second baseman is having everyone for swimming....
