Worst sports injuries of all time

An injury has to be pretty bad to get a Simpsons reference...

Homer decides to rent ``Football's Greatest Injuries''. He watches it at home, and Marge returns, her sisters sporting new 'dos.

Marge: Homer, could you turn off the TV? There's a little test I want you
to take.
TV: [crunch] Augh!
Homer; Oh, great, you made me miss Joe Theismann!

Another one is when Bryan Berard, now with the Blue Jackets, took the puck to the eye. Not jugular-slashing scary, but pretty damn nasty.

I'm not so sure Magahee belongs on that list. Napoleon McCallum's beats out Theisman in my opinion. That was freaking disgusting.

And I also agree, the hockey goalie deal deserves #1.

seeing as i have only seen two of the injuries on the list, i would assume you are right and mcgahee should not be on the list. still, when they showed replays of his knee going the wrong way, i did and still get cringes when i watch that. pretty nasty hit.

You could probably make an entire top ten list out of pitchers who broke their arms. Dravecky obviously makes the list because it was compounded by the cancer. A few others have been mentioned, and I also remember Tom Browning and John Smiley falling victim to it. It's an amazing an gruesome thing to hear on a telecast - Tom Browning's arm sounded like a muzzle blast.

it actually wasn't the puck, he took Marian Hossa's stick in the eye. Hossa took a crazy swing with his stick trying to bat the puck out of the air and on the back swing hit Berard in the eye. As i die hard maple leafs fan i remember that injury like it was yesterday and still hate Hossa and the senators because of it. Although i hate the sens for other reasons as well.

I can think of a few car crashes that may make the list, depending on your feelings about racing.

Alex Zanardi getting his legs cut off was pretty bad.

Well... that's a whole other ballgame...I'd say cars flying into the stands at LeMans might be up there in horror level...:wink2:

Oops. My mistake. I must be thinking of someone else who took the puck to the eye.
