Anyone here gonna go to the World Cup qualifier vs. Mexico at Crew Stadium on Sept. 3rd? Any Sam's Army members out there? I'm gonna go, and even though I've been a soccer fan for a long, long time, this will be my first international match. My roommate went the last time these two sides faced each other at Crew Stadium, and he said it was a blast. I remember watching that match on TV, and it seemed like quite an atmosphere, especially with all the drunken angry Mexicans throwing beer bottles.

Went to the game against Mexico last time they were here. Surprising how many Mexico fans were present. They take the game much more seriously than we do. Will go again if I can.

I was also at the game against Cost Rica two years ago (or so). Had seats in the last row in front of the boxes. Turns out the President of Cost Rica was in the box right behind us. My buds and I had some of those inflatable bangers they pass out and leaned over backwards to smack them in his face every chance we got. He had some security folks around him who didn't appreciate us - but never said or did anything. Best chance I have ever had of triggering an international incident.

I will try to do better next time.

I also went to both. Now I haven't gone to a Ohio State football game since I was maybe 6-7 years old and it was a blowout against Indiana. With that said, the Mexico game was the best sports atmosphere I've ever been apart of. It was freezing but it was loud, pretty sure it's still the Crew Stadium record for attendence. There were a lot a Mexico supporters, way too many. It'd be nice to sort of keep them out, but they'd much rather go to the game then some Americans and their price will show when looking for scalpers.

I'm going to the game Sept. 3. I've been to a lot of the international matches in Crew Stadium (both men and women). I love international soccer. Nothing like cheering on your country. ESPECIALLY in a rivalry like Mexico. I will ready and rowdy to support the US. They're in good shape to cruise past this qualifying round and get into the World Cup, where I will watch every US match and be emotionally drained after it's all over. It only happens once every 4 years. I cried when they lost to Germany in '02. lol But I was proud of their showing.

was wondering if there was even soccer fans here, lol. I was afraid to make a topic and be the only one to post :(. My uncle is the writer for the Crew.

Yeah, I'll be there - I'll have my flag, a red shirt on, and maybe a drum. I dunno. I'd love to be down on the end with Sam's Army, but I'll be going with my roommate, and I'm not sure how into that he'd be.

Anybody out there who's not a soccer fan, but is in the Columbus area: Take a look at going to the game! It will be quite a spectacle, and it's a great chance to be vocal in support of the USA. Even if you don't like soccer all that much, show up and be loud! Every American we can get in the stadium means one less Mexican that will be there.
