I am a baseball fan, but I can't seem to get excited about this WBC. I could care less that the USA lost to Canada yesterday, please just let all my Cleveland Indians return healthy.

Turns out I didn't understand it well enough. Hopefully Mexico continues to beat them bad.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Coming into the World Baseball Classic, Team USA manager Buck Martinez was aware of the tournament's tiebreaking procedure, but he hadn't studied it. Martinez and his squad are experts in the rules now, as they stand on the brink of elimination depending on the outcome of Thursday night's game between Canada and Mexico.
Assuming the U.S. beats South Africa on Friday afternoon, it will advance to the second round of the Classic if Canada defeats Mexico. However, if Mexico defeats Canada, it gets more complicated. In order for Team USA to advance with a Mexico victory, the Mexican team must score three or more runs.

If the U.S. does advance, let's hope Buck Martinez learned a few things.... like not starting Holliday again, not using Leiter AT ALL, and not sitting A-Rod. I didn't know this was a little league event where everyone has to play.

They are pooled up with Mexico, Korea and Japan in Anaheim. Second round play starts on Sunday.
