Woman Uses Own Key To Accidentally Steal Car

ATHENS, Ohio -- A college student who reported that his car was stolen got a surprise when he learned a woman had mistaken it for her daughter's car -- and used her daughter's key to take it.
Kate Anderson of Athens became an accidental car thief when she went to pick up her daughter's car near an Ohio University building last week.

Toyota said back in the 1980s there were only so many ways to cut a key, making such a mix-up possible. Now keys have microchips that ensure the correct key is needed to start a car.

And, so we can charge 75 dollars for a spare...

I've been able to open my dad's car with my key before.

One is a 2001 chevy s10 pickup, and the other is a 1999 GMC suburban. It was kind of disturbing considering the fact that you knew it had to be true to be able to work with other cars.
