Wisky @ tOSU, Sat Sep 24, 7:30pm, ABC

this literally has the same feel as the ND game for me. Wisky like ND has a decent running game, a meh QB and a physical defense. OSU has the advantage in talent and speed. Crowd should be jacked, weather for Sat (as of today) looks like perfect B1G weather. add all that up and if we dont miss opportunities I could see a 31-10 type win

Planning to take my son (18yo) to his first regular season game and we're pretty excited! I haven't been to a game since the '13 matchup vs Wisconsin, and hope this is as memorable a night as that game; although a more comfortable victory would great lol.

Would welcome any tips/recommendations from the BP gang to help give dude a memorable time. Not sure skull session is in the works but we definitely want to be in there for the band entrance for the full stadium experience. Planning to get down there mid-morning, find parking, take a stroll through campus, then find some place to eat and hangout prior to the game. Let me know if there's anything you all recommend.

I haven't gone to a game this season yet, but went to a couple last year (live on the other end of the country now or else I would have season tickets) and of course some things in Columbus are timeless. To my chagrin, a lot of the places on High Street I used to go to before the games are gone. But I still made do with Adriatico's pizza...my favorite pizza of all time, old location is gone but the new one is close by just a couple blocks past Mirror Lake heading south. I went in a couple hours before the game and it was pretty slammed, so if you pick there to eat I would say go a 3-4 hours before the game.

Also, if you want a beer during the game (prices actually weren't too bad when I was there considering the venue), aside from getting there early for the band entrance, get there to download the app for the beer vendor. Most people assume you can pay cash and you can't, but if you throw your credit card on the app in advance the system works incredibly well. You can order from your seat and swing by on a commercial break to just swipe your phone, grab a cold one, and head right back to your seat before the game starts back up. I was actually loving that system, but many were frustrated and stuck in line who didn't get the app.

Anything else I would say Skull Session is just incredible, my dad took me to that my first OSU game and it was one of my favorite memories. Never disappoints. Of course can't miss Script Ohio, seems obvious but it is easy to take a concession/bathroom break and miss some of it. And maybe it was because I was a student at OSU when it was just built, but the Student Union is pretty awesome to walk through. Plus you can hit the Oval and Thompson Library in a quick loop and still be by the stadium. I force my family/friends to do that every time I am back to bring on the nostalgia. Whatever you end up doing, enjoy the father/son gameday experience, some of my best memories are in Columbus with my dad for a game. The blackout should be a really cool thing for him as well, I know the traditionalists hate it but I kind of enjoy it for just one game a year like this one.

I hated the idea of a blackout. But I went to two of them (2015 vs Penn State and 2019 vs Michigan State) and I thought they were pretty neat. I agree about not doing it too much, but now and then it can be fun.

Appreciate the tip on the beer vendor app; anything to cut down time wasted in line is a big help.

I haven't walked campus since my time there ('97 was just a couple years back, right??? UGH) so I'm sure it's like a new place for me. The chance to spend this time with him is pretty exciting and I think he'll really get into the blackout experience.

Another question for those experienced - if we get a hotel, are Ubers reasonably available after the game?

No problem, that was something that seemed like a pain when we got there but it turned out being awesome if you actually prepare and just get in a little early. If you talk to the workers by the fridge, they will get you set up with the app right away and the rest is easy. Unless they switched from that system this year (someone else correct me if the stadium changed how they do it this year).

The campus as a whole will look very different from '97 lol. But there are some stalwarts still around. Varsity Club and The Library are still right there on Lane. The Oval will look the same minus maybe the Thompson Library renovation and the new Student Unions at the end, which are honestly awesome and you'll enjoy that. Mirror Lake got a nice facelift (not sure if it is still under construction, should be done I would imagine). Biggest thing to me is that I didn't recognize High Street barely. You'll have a great time regardless, enjoy the game and Go Bucks!
