Just because they DIDN'T say they had swine flu or not doesn't necessarily mean they didn't.

Wisconsin's campus has something north of 200 cases. There's essentially no way the football team is unaffected by it.

Set aside the danger to the Wisky players if they tried to play through it for a second. If my kid is on Fresno State and you knowingly let a guy with H1N1 play I'm going to be ripping pissed. If my kid gets it someone's getting sued. If he gets it and ,God forbid, dies from it someone on the Wisky side is going to pay in kind.

I'm with Steve, I can't believe they have confirmed cases of H1N1 and tried/were allowed to play. Its either the regular flu or someone has lost their goddamn mind up there.

Exactly. Letting players diagnosed with H1N1 play, even if they could manage it, would be seriously irresponsible.

I may have been a little reckless in stating these were confirmed cases of Swine Flu. They were confirmed cases of Flu, many of which are presumed to be Swine Flu. Through Sept. 5, 198 students were evaluated for flu-like symptoms at the University of Wisconsin Health Services. Of the cases tested so far, 81 percent are positive for H1N1. I think it's a safe presumption that many of the cases among Wisconsin players were Swine Flu. I don't know how long that test takes to conduct. Many had just started to show symptoms recently, so they couldn't have possibly been cleared. Either way, it's pretty ignorant to express serious concern that a 170-330 pound 20-year old male could die from the illness. You have to be a very small child, extremely old, or have a seriously weakened immune system to die from it. It's not really much more deadly than your standard flu.

Regardless, Bielema just acknowledged to the media that there were 42 cases of the flu throughout the roster. He was just downplaying it before by just reporting there were around 10. He didn't want them to have a built in excuse going in so they'd be mentally defeated going in, knowing the game was going to played anyways. This was an impressive win for Wisconsin under the circumstances. The Badgers are pretty good this year, I think.

The Badgers looked pretty good because Hill isn't taking 15 of Clay's carries anymore.

Without Clay, the Badgers would have lost this one, I thought.

Have you watched the same Wisconsin team that I've seen the first two games of the season? Because I've watched a team that has (at home) struggled to put away NIU and was extremely lucky to beat a mediocre Fresno St. team. At this point, I'd say UW will be lucky to go 4-4 in the Big Ten this season.
