Wireless router question

DEBuckeye

It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
I've got a cable modem at home and recently hooked up a wireless router to it for a laptop we have. The guy (Geek Squad) who was helping me set it up said that if the router and modem were turned off for an extended period of time, they could lose the settings and not work when turned back on. He suggested that I leave them on all the time.

True? False? Thoughts?

we have cable modem and wireless router here at the Buttocks' and we leave them on all the time... I would think it would be a pain to turn them on and off all the time... But to answer your question, I have no clue if it is good or not for them to be left on all the time.. guess I never knew better.
