You never come back from Copperhead Road
We have seen JT in the swirl of adversity and at the heights of success while at OSU...and I challenge any of his detractors to show me just one moment... one glimpse... of the man when he is without class, respect, and honesty.

Confidence, and even a little swagger, in the absence of arrogance is not an easy balance to strike...but JT has both feet planted firmly right on that line. This is why I don't think we see a repeat of the MSU debacle that 'never happened' in the late 1990's, or Bo's big win in '69.

E. Bruce had a title team but it slipped away. Coop had several and the door was slammed shut.

But this team follows JT's lead and walks on that line of confidence without arrogance. OSU has had its share of rogue players in the past, but to a man this team appears to buy into the Senator's dictum: keep getting better.

3 BCS wins, a national title, and a now a shot at a wire to wire championship.

I am not concerned that this team will be ambushed... OSU played within a score of so many titles under Woody, Earl, and Cooper. Each of those names was an accomplished coach...and Woody proved he could seal the deal....but I now truly believe JT is different. I don't think anyone before the UM game has a prayer of derailing this train.

When the Iowa game was over I thought we had shown the nation that our defense was one of the best in the B10 and I grew confident we could run the string.

But then in post game comments the defensive players discussed how much better they could have played and that they were disappointed with facets of their performance. The words of the senator coming from the players. This team is on a mission and I am all in.

Then THE moment: when JT commented that this team can be as good as they want to be. This team is separating itself from the rest of country, strengthening their hold on the top ranking, and yet they are still working on the depth chart, still expanding the game plan, and still improving.

Wire to wire?

Well just how good does this team want to be.

:oh: :io:

If something isn't growing.......it's dieing. This team certainly continues to grow, they are beginning to take the form of one of those special teams that we all remember. I'm not sure at what moment I realized that, even after Texas I was still sketchy.........I am no longer. This is an excellent football team, and I'm going to enjoy this ride as long as they can stay on the tracks. Hopefully that will be into next season.

Wire to wire is definitely possible. This is an excellant team which is in a winning football frame of mind. My opinion of the team's growth is that I think we went into this year knowing they had to find and mesh a couple players in the O line and a lot on defense.
They basically have done that on the O line with the exception of TE maybe. That position is a work in progress. Other than that it now is a question of tweaking the Offense. So we have progressed from "having to find" to getting as good as we can get.
The defense has outdone all my expectations and they can get better. I think there may be a postion change to be made, maybe not. The Defense isnt even close to playing as good as they can. It will be fun to see them grow into one of the most bad assed "D"s ever.
I think JT will get the team to progress over the rest of the season and be ready to romp and stomp on Mich.

Besides "wire to wire" sounds sooooo good.

Wire to wire would be great. I believe in coach JT. That's why I'm less worried about scUM. BUT in Big Ten, running the ball well and stopping the run is the key. It always was and it still is. That's why I think our biggest test will be against scUM. They are good at both.

We run the ball well. better than scUM. but, they have a better run D.

However, as I said...I believe in our coach. We have some time to improve. The Game is in the 'shoe. Because of those reasons, we'll win and go wire to wire.

What's most impressive to me of this years team, and the job of the coaching staff in general is how they ripped the "can't win on the road in night games" monkey right off their backs. I can't remember ANY team having two such dominant performances on the road in night games against ranked teams just three weeks apart.

The talent seems to all be in place, yet at last count there are 22 positions on a football team yet JT is playing about 60 kids per game. That's because of guys busting their asses in practice and earning playing time. To me, that's a sign of a "hungry" team thats not going to let up for a moment.

I don't like to come onto this site and brag up our team, thats just too easy to do and most people want something a little more solid than "WE'RE NUMBER ONE" shoved in their faces. But, and I realize there is a long way to go, this team has the potential to be perceived as one of our best ever if it continues to take care of business. And Mr. Smith, with a run of the table and a win over scUM pretty much will make him the greatest QB we've ever had here. The next few months should be a blast. Enjoy it Bucckeye fans!!

Just one to go....hard to believe the season is behind us and we are looking at a potential NC season.

I am going to miss this team starting the morning of Jan 9th no matter what happens against Florida.

Right after the ND game it hit me that I'd never see another buckeye game with #47 roaming around on our defense, and it hit me pretty hard. Losing Hawk was huge, and I am expecting the hurt to be even greater once we lose #10 to Sundays...

It's the one thing that sucks about college football, losing your heroes and favorite players after what seems like such a short 3-4 years, but its also a great thing, because without the departure of those legends, you'd be without the great ones that would come right after them (Laurinaitis, and hopefully Henton).

But thats also the reason I love making highlight tapes, haha, to recapture all those great moments and players. This years will definitley be fun to make, especially if we end up capping it off the way we all hope!

I think that's part of the joy and thrill of the game. It sure does seem like yesterday that Troy was returning kicks and being considered as a RB/WR, and here we are celebrating a Heisman. Everything happens fast, and each Fall we get to see the lights come on for another young player, like Jenkins, Lauranitis, Washington, etc. Then in no time, we're watching them haul off the top hardware and move on to the pros, making room for the next star in line. It's not like anything else in sports.

I'm in total agreement. Hey, I felt the same as you last January. #47 was inimitable--but so is #33! #10 seems irreplaceable, and while there will never be another quite like him, I can't wait to see what September '07 will hold!

That's the fun of college football in general, and Buckeye football in particular!

You're a top-rated high school player. You see the games on TV. You see the coaches: how they lead, how they win, how they lose, and how they respect their opponents. You see class and the absence of class.

Granted, you are going to have kids who have grown up dreaming of something other than a Buckeye jersey. But that aside, what high school kid out there right now can honestly say that given the chance, he would not pull out all the stops to play for JT and leave his mark on the Buckeye tradition?

I ask because I believe the answer to that rhetorical is what will sustain the Buckeye program throughout the tenure of JT.
