Wire Fans Generation Kill

I thought the first episode was well done. Laid the groundwork, introduced interesting characters, and certainly did not hold back with language or crudeness (making it more believable).

I'd put money on this miniseries winning a lot of awards when it's all said and done.

For fans of The Wire, it's pretty comical to see Ziggy from Season 2 playing a marine in this series. He's more mature, yet still so good at playing the annoying role.

Another thumb's up for episode 2. This episode transitions the troops into action. That shouldn't be a spoiler, as there aren't too many episodes in the miniseries, and I expect a lot more action from here on out.

I like how the show is addressing themes like the politics (and sometimes incompetence) of military command and heirarchy, the limited resources for our troops, and the unpredictable nature of war on foreign land, causing spontaneous, significant decisions to be made.

The actors playing the Godfather and Sgt. Maj. Sixta are standing out, and I don't think that any of the others are far behind.

Sixta is ridiculous - he is like a caricature or a cartoon figure, with the best running storyline being his obsession with the marines, in the thick of war, needing to groom themselves properly, and the enlisted men doing everything they can to avoid shaving their 'staches.

Just got through the final episode.

One of the last scenes is a football game between two company's. After a TD the Doc looks up and says "That's Buckeye football!".

I watched a few episodes of this and couldn't get into it. I ended up falling asleep during one of them. Not my cup of tea. Of course I gave up on The Wire after one episode so that should have told me something. I usually get into most of the HBO/Showtime shows that I watch, but that might be because all of the ones that I watch end up with some decent T&A. I have my wife into True Blood and Dexter now.
