Winthrop +29.5 at tOSU (ov/un 129.5) Tues 7 BTN

This is the same team that beat a pretty good OU team 50-49 in Athens about a week ago. I think the score will be around 80-50 give or take a few points. The lines will be pretty close.
• Matchup to watch: Winthrop struggles to run its offense and score. Ohio State needs to defend better than it did against UNC Asheville on Saturday in its last tuneup before playing host to Kansas on Saturday. Asheville’s 72 points were the second-most the Buckeyes have surrendered to a small-school visitor in four years; Virginia Military Institute scored 74 last season.

• Notable: Ohio State has won 38 straight nonconference games in Columbus and 127 in a row against opponents from nonmajor conferences. … The only previous meeting between Winthrop and Ohio State was a 78-54 Buckeyes win in their 2001-02 opener. … Pat Kelsey, a former point guard and assistant coach at Xavier, is in his first season as Winthrop coach. … The Eagles lost their top four scorers and top three rebounders from last season.

practice tomorrow isn't going to be very fun I don't think....

missing FTs

Sloppy play

Brainless fouls

Not gonna be fun, but Thad will have them ready for Kansas....

They shot 75% on FTs, that is better than an average team would shoot. The problems were they thought they were going to walk over this team like all the other cupcakes (and played like it for 3/4 of the game) and Winthrop wasn't going to let this game get away from them.

Maybe, but had Winthrop hit another shot when they were only down 9, those last two missed FTs would have hurt big time.

I stand by what I said though, practice tomorrow won't be fun. This team isn't so overly-talented that it can take days off.

Missing FTs? I don't think so; Buckeyes shot 75%. Rebounds Winthrop got were almost all long bounces off the rim, plus a couple of fumble-fingers by Buckeye bigs.

I really don't think the Buckeyes played as badly as the score would indicate. My reaction is that Winthrop was incredibly lucky with bounces and 3-balls, along with some odd foul calls against Ohio State. Bottom line: still optimistic about Kansas.

I didn't get a chance to see the game and it doesn't sound like it's something I want to watch. :)

It's the holidays, they're kids and they play Kansas on Saturday. I'm not surprised that they came out flat and didn't play their best game as a team.

Just my opinion, but I think our best five at the moment are Scott, Craft, LSJ, DT and Rav. That leaves Thompson, Ross, and Williams to come off the bench. Amir had a good run towards the end of the game, hopefully that boosts his confidence. Scott and Craft on the court together is fun to watch. They are lockdown and Scott is as quick on the break as I've seen in a while. Almost Felton or Lawson like at UNC speed wise.
