The Buckeyes continue their successful season with 5 more games in Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Florida and then a big one in Coral Gables. The opponents this time around are Big 10 foe Indiana, Army, Hartford and Rollins.
Friday March 20th 10:00 AM Indiana
The Buckeyes face the Hoosiers for the first time this season in Winter Haven in what I think will be a non-conference game. IU currently sits at 6-9 going into this weekend's action.
Saturday March 21st 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM (DH) Army
The Black Knights of the United States Military Academy (West Point) will play the Buckeyes in a Double-header on Saturday. Army is at 5-6 right now with wins over Ohio U, Sacred Heart and Central Florida.
Sunday March 22nd 11:00 AM Hartford
A matchup with the Hartford University Hawks is in store for the Buckeyes on Sunday. The Hawks are currently 1-5 after all 4 games scheduled for their home stadium in Connecticut in March were inexplicably cancelled due to bad weather.
Monday, March 23rd 1:30 PM Rollins
The Rollins College Tars (not making that up) wind up the week's Winter Haven portion of the schedule. The Tars are currently 12-9 on the season after a thrilling come-from-behind 12-11 victory over Bridgeport.
The extended Spring Break Weekend weekend concludes with what could be the best non-conference game on OSU's slate: the Miami Hurricanes. The game with be in Coral Gables, Florida.
Tuesday, March 24th 6:00 PM Miami (FL)
The Hurricanes are currently ranked 4th in the Nation by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association. Miami is 14-3 (5-1 ACC) on the season, including a 3-0 loss to Rhode Island, a team that also beat Ohio State 8-6. They are truly one of the powerhouse programs in College Baseball and a perennial contender for the College World Series. Per the Wikipedia entry: "Since 1973, the program has been one of college baseball's elite, winning four national championships (1982, 1985, 1999, 2001) and advancing to the NCAA regionals a record 36 consecutive years." This game could show where the Ohio State program is in relation to the elites in the world of College Baseball.
