Any of you Sys Admins here ever had the pleasure of upgrading a Windows Server 2003 Standard box to 2003 Enterprise? If so, I would appreciate any input. I am going to have to perform this upgrade on my Exchange 2003 Server, we need to get above the 4GB RAM limitation of Server Standard. Thanks.

Does Microsoft even have an upgrade path for that? I have never tried, we had two Windows 2000 Advanced Servers that were upgraded to 2K3 Enterprise, and I think we actually wiped and did clean installs, one was our exchange server, we ended up building a second server, migrating all the mailboxes to it, installing and moving back. It was a long process but in the long run well worth it.

Yeah, that is a supported path. I would do the second server/migration path if I could buy a new server. I have some servers I could use for a new one, but it would be a lateral move. To me, too much work for just a lateral move onto older hardware. Next year will be the year we implement a new Xchange box, and we will also probably step up to Xchange 2007 at that time as well.

We're looking at Exchange 2k7 now, it's nice because I will finally get a new server due to the x64 architecture.

Yeah, I am going to pimp out the new one. I think the Enterprise Edition of Windows supports up to 32GB of RAM. I am going to try to get to at least half of that with at least 4 processors. How big is your Information Store?
