Wilma jumps to Cat 5 overnight

Heading LoKy's way.
Take cover my friend.
I'll be watching and hoping for the best.
This is a record setting storm year.

thanks, bro.....

It looks like it may make landfall south of us in the North Port area but I think we're gonna see a brutal storm. We are trying to decide where to go.... looks like Orlando is the best bet. My wife may take the kids and leave early but I may have to stick around longer.... we're 5 minutes from Siesta Key so I don't if a storm surge would get us or not... I would think not but you never really know.

Good Lord. This this looks nasty. Be safe everyone who is near this thing.

Hurricane Wilma rapidly gained strength overnight and is now a category 5 storm! A recon plane found a pressure of 892 mb around 2:30 this morning, then 884 mb around 5 a.m., ranking Wilma as the most intense hurricane to ever be recorded in the Atlantic basin! It is also the fastest intensification of any hurricane in recorded history. Wilma is packing winds over 175 mph, with higher gusts. AccuWeather.com Senior Hurricane Expert Joe Bastardi says it is a very compact storm, with an eye just 4 miles wide and hurricane force winds extending outward only 15 miles from center.

South Florida is going to be no place to be Saturday. It looks like they have it moving very fast once it turns Northeast.

im guessing it will prolly be a cat 3 by the time it gets to florida. seems likethe course they have it on that another system is coming by and the wind sheer will weaken it quite a bit. the thing im interested in is what is our next named storm?..........we are out of names. i dont think this has ever happened so im curious to see what the next one will be.

correct! they move on to the Greek alphabet. they saying a cat 4 when it hits.... I would usually think it would slow to a cat 3 but there is so much energy out there for thing to feed off of I don't think anyone knows what the heck it's going to do.

on a positive note... my station cancelled the events going on for Sunday and it looks like we may go to recorded/syndicated shows for the weekend... that way I won't have to be here.
