In March of 2005, Powlus was hired as the Irish's director of personnel development, where he is organizing recruiting.

Ah, so that's why Jimmy Clauson is going to win 4 NC's and 4 Heismans... Ron needs someone to pass his legacy to.

He played a few years before I started following football so I really don't know much about him. All I know is he was a QB for Notre Dame and Beano Cook predicted he'd win 3 Heismans. What kind of a player was he? What kind of stats did he put up? Did he play in the NFL? I want some details, please.

Powlus had his Heismann hopes smashed two years in a row by Ohio State. In both games he threw temper tantrums on the sidelines, once with his center, another with the coaches and several helmet tossing solos with himself and the fates. It was precious to watch. I have it on VHS and take them out at least once a year to enjoy again.

Powlus got one of the ugliest broken arms I've ever seen in a futile attempt to avoid a pass rush. His elbow was shoved straight into his shoulder by the ground. The humorus(sp?) just disappeared.
