In the older games, each character had a different endings, but you never knew what was cannon til the next game came out

Deadly Alliance, Deception had campaign modes..

MK9 (the one released in 2011 that rebooted the franchise) retells the story from MK1-MK3

New characters confirmed... Kotal Kahn (the Aztec-looking guy from the trailer), Cassie Cage (Sonya and Johnny's daughter), D'Vorah (the lady bug), and Ferra & Torr (the brute who may have relation to Shao Kahn with the imp)

Storyline will also pick up right after the events of MK 9 and will span 25 years
