Been to Bonaire and Curacao.
Don't leave your stuff out in the open or unguarded.
Very windy. And bugs are huge.
Think about what to take/plan for one of you getting sick for a few days. Watch out for that sun! You will be in a tropical enviroment so any cuts or scrapes will fester quickly! Pack some Neosporin cream. :tongue2:
Amstel made from desalinated sea water! OMFG! Why drink water(which is very good) when you can drink some of the best tasting beer you'll probably ever have!
Great sea food! And steak from South America. Can be pricey.
It will be a long flight(the northern tip of South America) so be prepared for a little suffering.
The scuba diving is great, even off Aruba. Give it a try if you've ever thought about it.
Aruba night life will be OK but stay alert! Know where your going and don't wander after dark.
Don't tell a European vacationer that they can come visit you! Because they will take that as an invitation and expect a stay with you! (this is a matter of Euro thought/courtesy). I'm serious!

Appreciate the input Taos, but Aruba doesn't have a tropical climate...it's a desert island.

Has anyone else here actually been to the Netherlands Antilles?
Most of the Caribbean islands are desert islands . You get scratched or cut it will infect quickly! Take my word from experience.
And one of you is going to be sick for a couple days. Par for the course.
But have a great time and take lots of pictures! Congrats!

Never the Netherlands Antilles, but I've spent more than my share of time on many of the islands. Lived months on one.

Not sick for a second. No infections.

Once you get past the one fake Disney Windmill, surly Venezuelans selling overpriced drinks and gambling and the obligatory nice beaches is what it is down there (from my experience).

I would wear a T-shirt that says, "I'm Natalie Holloway's 12th cousin - Interview me!"

It remains on my list of targets that deserve nuclear strikes.

Go to Bermuda, the Bahamas, BVIs, Montserrat, Barbados, the Caymens, ...even the Mayan Rivera first. But like I said, on a honeymoon you would find the Motel 6 in Moosejaw, Idaho a good time.

My wife and I have been to Curacao and several other Caribbean islands without getting sick.

In Cancun I met up with a man of Mayan descent named Juan Rivera. Great guy, we started telling stories and after drinking mezcal for a few hours, one thing led to another, we both ended up eating the worm, and let's just say I'm glad nobody has any pictures from that evening.

Oh, he meant the resort area called the Mayan Riviera?

Never mind. :!
