Whole-Home Humidifiers

So, how high is too high? My main concern is keeping my piano in good shape and in tune. I believe the recommended humidity level for that is around 42%. We had a room unit that worked well in our old apartment, but it's insufficient for our condo. So, we've been thinking about installing a furnace unit, too.

I certainly don't want to create mold, though, and the place is only a year old.

Princess,

The unit I bought came with an instructional video and it mentioned the low 30%'s for home use. Again, if you start getting condensation on the inside of your window's, it's too high.

Problem is most people think you need a lot more moisture in the air than you really do.

How much space do you need to add it on to the furnace? My husband added a utility sink to the basement, so I know the water lines are easily accessible, but I'm not sure we have enough room around the furnace.

The unit is only about the size of a paper towel dispenser at a school or something. I tried providing a link to the Home Depot site for the one I bought last night but it's not on their website.

Let me see if Lowe's has theirs online.

You also need a drain or sump pump to drain the excess water into.

Which, of course, in our case is on the opposite side of the room from the furnace.

:(

I'll have to look into it, though. Our place has become rather "shocking" the past couple weeks.
