Who will lead the Buckeyes in kick return yards this year?

I'm sure someone will come along and ask why a certain player isn't on this list so I will apologize in advance. I'll add choices as necessary.

Are punts kicks? Or do you mean kick-offs? I'm going with Ginn either way, but if punts count, this is a run away.

Kick return yards and punt return yards always have been separate and distinct terms. The phrase "return yards" encompasses both.

[sarcasm]I'm going out on a limb here[/sarcasm] and say that our two kick returners will be Holmes and Ginn. Teams will kick to Holmes and I think he'll get twices as many kick returns as Ginn, but barely more yardage (Ginn will bust at least KO back for a TD). Both will average well over 20 yards per return.

I voted for Ginn although I also think that Santonio will have more kickoffs directed his way. But one of those will be given to Teddy on a reverse that gets some major yards. That play needs to be shown once to make all the coverage teams worry about it.

That play I'd like to see on one KO return is for Ginn and Holmes to run to the same spot on the field after one of them receives the kick, stop, hide behind a couple of blockers for a second, and then suddenly both break out at the same time in opposite directions to confuse the kick defense as to who has the ball.

Last year, Auburn did that with Cadillac and two other returners. They made one big huddle, and then burst out in three different directions. It was great for ESPN "analysts" to drool over, but they still only made it back to the 20 or something...

I predict a ton of balls kicked/punted out of bounds until Tressel's offense shows it can put points on the board. If we find a running back early on then TGJr will get his yards because they'll have to take the risk of putting us as deep as possible in our end of the field. should be lots of opportunities to block punts if punt protection team has to concentrate on getting down the field to cover.

I rate this post as insightful.

Lets hope that option to kick-away gets proven a poor choice early this season. Definitely want to see Ginn getting his hands on one and out doing Breaston's efforts in the Rose Bowl.

And as for who'll get more KR's / PR's I favor the Santonio for distance, Ginn for points

I can see punting out of bounds, but kicking off out of bounds only plays into our hands because we get the ball on offense at the 35 yard line. If we can start each offensive drive from our own 35 or beyond, we'll score a ton and/or be putting their offense deep in the hole on punts.

Mili, I'd concede the point with the ball going to the 35 on an ob kick off, IF we have a running back and if our offense looks like the Michigan game and not the Iowa game. But late in a game would you rather take your chances with the ball on the 35 or Ginn catching it about the 5 and taking off?
