You kids stay off my lawn!
It remains a puzzel to me that the NBA remains in business, in fact seems to be doing well. I usually catch as much of the NCAAs as work will allow, but I haven't watched more than five minutes of NBA ball since the Celts - 76ers duals in the 60s. I can't think of anyone in my family or friends who know anything about the game. I can only think of one or two fellow coaches who watch it. So enlighten me. Who watches NBA basketball? Is it a regional thing? Is it an age thing?

Do NBA fans also get into NASCAR?

I watch the Cavs, but I could care less about the rest of the league. Same for the Indians and baseball. Now that I think about it if one of my teams isn't playing I don't really care about any sport as much. Football's the only sport that I can sit down and enjoy even if I don't care about either team.

to paraphrase Bill Simmons, we are entering the LeBron Era. Like the Jordan Era during the 90s, there are times when nothing else is on that I will flip to the Cavs game just to watch LeBron. Jordan was the last player that made non-NBA people take a similar approach to watching professional basketball.

The only time I watch the NBA is when a 1980s Laker-Celtic game is on Classic.

I can honestly say that I haven't watched an entire NBA game since the 1998 Finals between the Bulls and Jazz.

So who does watch it? Is it an East/West coast thing? Is it a young guy thing? Is it a black/white thing?

Is it because we don't have a francise in Cincinnati?

Hardly. We drove the Royals out. The town loves the college game, but you couldn't give away the NBA here.

Well-- First... i'm not a big fan of the League...

But...

Its a gate driven sport... and in most of the Markets its in, its well attended... I Portland, Golden State, Salt Lake City, Sacramento... pretty much sell out every game... and obviously nothing else is in most of those places... so I think it is "Regional" but more by Metro Area.

Anyway... On Cini and Basketball... its liek C-Town and Hockey... jsut aren't interested in the Pro-Level...

I much prefer College Basketball... and College Football, for that matter... though I do watch the NFL.

I said before and I'll say it again.
I would rather watch the early morning hunting and fishing shows than the NBA. Only time I come close is when I am at some bar at the airport and that is all they have on. I then watch the skirts hurrying to their flights.

I watch college footbal, any and all college footbal, some NFL and I have determined I watch the NCAA basketball tournament scores, not the games.

The New Orleans Hornets has lowered their prices for season and walk up tickets and the place is still empty. I agree it it regional much like hockey. They could also go on strike and the nation would not miss a beat.

Living in Chicago, the NBA will never again be as appealing as it was during the Jordan years. I got to see them in person a few times, and on TV almost every game. The NBA isn't as interesting anymore, and the quality of play has dropped. Maybe LeBron can make some impact.

This year, they'll be helped on TV playoff ratings because of no Stanley Cup playoffs. The NHL regular season is boring, but playoff hockey is pretty good.

Here are the current NBA attendance figures. Portland used to sell out, but the town is tired of having a bunch of lazy players that get arrested and no longer make the playoffs. Only 4 teams are always selling out at home - Detroit, Miami, Dallas, and Sacramento. Last season, only Dallas and Sacramento sold out at home, and the Lakers played an entire sold-out road schedule.

I love it. The Hornets leave town because of a lack of fan support, so what does the NBA do? They create another franchise in the city, and guess what, the Bobcats have the worst attendance record (62.6%).

Real geniuses running the show.

The league was creaming their pants over having a minority owner that they totally disregarded the fact that Charlotte was a waste of a city attendance wise.
