I want to highlight a sound bite from Jerry Jones about Prime and subprime:
"I have an edge, I know what winner he has in his bloodline. Consequently, with my firsthand knowledge, with my relationship with Deion (Sanders) over the years, and I watched two or three ballgames with his son, I know where the character is there. And it is great character."
See how that is 100% about Deion and not about the kid?
subprime isn't a winner, it's just in his bloodline
I know Deion so I know about his son
Nothing about Shedeur the young man. Nothing about him as a player. Everything is about how his worth comes from the old man.
As a father, this makes me sick. How do you let it get this far, this long into a young mans life? He doesn't have any value except as it relates to you? Come on man, that is fucking sick.
I can respect Deion's marketing chops and vision to build a brand for himself when no one was doing that. I can respect his ability as a player. His absolute failure, and not from a lack of knowing but from a sick need to satisfy his own ego at the expense of his son's development, is so dark, sick and twisted that I cannot see past it. It's child abuse. Just as damaging as physical or sexual abuse because it's going to have a very negative affect on his fundamental sense of self worth.
So all of this hate to the kid isn't really about the kid because the kid doesn't really exist. He's just the projection of a self absorbed jock who's ego has him holding on far too long. We aren't rooting against subprime, we are taking joy in the suffering of the sick sonofabitch that is Prime.
Shedeur is, for him, unfortunately a real human being though and the price he's going to have to pay for such a fucked up old man is so far beyond draft position that it really isn't funny. I know he will be rich and I know, because of his upbringing, he will be an insufferable prick but as a dad, I actually feel like it's just a goddamned tragedy and feel sorry for the young man. (not his draft slide, his actual life).
