Who Played the Best 'Batman'?

Who Is Your favorite Batman?

Keaton was an outstanding Batman, but a poor Bruce Wayne. I really thought Clooney had the best Wayne but by the time he'd landed the role the franchise had denigrated into a farce. His portrayal of the actual Batman didn't help matters. Neither did nipples on the bat costume.

Bale's probably the most well-rounded actor ever to step into the Batman role, and though I thought he was forcing it sometimes as The Bat, he's got the yuppie billionaire persona nailed down tightly. I'm REALLY pumped because it looks like the joker looks like he's written properly and Heath Ledger seems (seemed) to get the idea too. I had to vote Bale... not necessarily because he was the "best" but because the way Batman Begins was written and directed it allowed him to be better than the others. It was close enough that the better script let him win out in the end.

How can you not like Adam West and his realistic fights?:

YouTube - 1966 Batman the Movie - Fight Sequences

Adam West was fantastic for the kind of Batman that was expected at the time. He is classic, and always will be!

Besides, no one has yet to fill out the role of Catwoman like the original three, Julie Newmar(those cheekbones! that voice!)

Lee Meriwether(that smile!)

and Eartha Kitt(those eyebrows, the hair and voice, my my!)

Definitely had to go with Bale. Kilmer and Clooney were just not that entertaining in their roles (A lot of that is because of, well, Joel Schumacher). Keaton was very good in the 1st movie, but he basically did nothing in Batman Returns. West has nostalgia, but Bale is definitely the best Batman. Bale has the Batman, Bruce Wayne, and Billionaire Bruce Wayne characters down better than any other actor playing the role.

Voted Michael Keaton - I'm a big fan of the first two. I liked the Burton/Keaton films' balance between the Dark Knight and the colorful Adam West version. Keaton's underrated as an actor in just about everything he's in anyway. He's got a gift where he can take dumb dialog or matter-of-fact lines and deliver them in a way that gets a laugh, such as the exchange with Robert Wuhl in the first film:

"It's Japanese."
"How do you know that?"
"'Cause I bought it in Japan."

Great actors rise above bad scripts, and Keaton made a career out of it from the late-80s through the mid-90s. He even made date movie schlock like Pacific Heights watchable, which is a feat in and of itself.
'Multiplicity'! :banger:

I also loved him in the brief role as the FBI agent in 'Out of Sight' and of course Beetlejuice.

Keaton was best! All those who had read the comic for years realize that.
He did a beautiful job. Bale is .....pale in comparison.
I agree Keaton was the best, but I wouldn't say Bale "pales in comparison".

I was never a huge Batman fan before Batman Begins, and I must give Christian Bale some credit for that. I was never really a huge Christian Bale fan before Christopher Nolan came along (Batman Begins and the Prestige are two of my favorite movies). So I feel that my answer isn't biased for those reasons.

I think Bale nails the character out of the suit. Keaton was excellent, but I watched one of the Keaton films recently and wasn't into his character as much. Batman Begins is why I like Bale more, rather than the Dark Knight. We really meet Bale's Batman in that movie.

Those are the only two actors I'm even going to discuss for the title of "Best Batman." I was not a fan of any of the others. I'm sure a lot of all this stuff has to do with the director, and Nolan is the far superior director compared to the other Batman directors.

Just saw the movie with my wife last night. LOVED IT! The darkness certainly brought me back to the midset that Keaton gave Batman in the late 80s.

Now, as far as best Batman, you have to look at it in a few ways, Batman is both superhero and man.

Keaton played a fantastic Superhero but made a lackluster Bruce Wayne. He didn't have the playboy-persona that of Wayne.

Kilmer platyed a great Bruce Wayne but a very poor Batman.

Clooney's adventure into the Batman role was just a Hollywoode blunder.

Bale has it all down. He knows how to come off cocky, brash and intelligent like Bruce Wayne, yet has the right moves and voice for Batman. Bale is the best of all the bunch.

Adam West

I watched that show everyday until I was about 10. I enjoyed the other Batman movies, but none really grabbed me until Batman Begins. I thought I'd hate Bale (a little too real in American Psycho) and was more than pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to seeing this one.
