I am a RoadRunner user and very happy with it despite the high cost.

Curious what other folks were using and how happy they are (particularly any DSL user).

(Sorry if this topic has been done before - although I believe every concievable topic has been done.

I work for 1st.net based out of eastern OH. But I have comcast at home :) My roomate works for Comcast, so we get the largest cable tv package, plus internet for free. We offer DSL, have set it up and used it many times, is very nice and much cheaper. Course not really, cause you're still having to pay for your phone line in order to have it.

Bellsouth DSL at home, no problems. They reduced cost once cable started rolling out high speed in the area.

Bellsouth T-1 at work.

We rarely have problems, hurricanes will get us every once and awhile but my fricking cable is out far more often.

I've got Wide Open West (WOW) for both cable and internet. It is cheaper then Warner's package, however I'm sure that my cable modem operation (I think it is 112 kbps) isn't as fast as Roadrunner.

Roadrunner.

I have also had Verizon DSL and Bell Atlantic DSL, as well as Columbus Roadrunner.

I am a big roadrunner fan. Especially now: I live in the hood, and we just got ISP service through Time Warner in the last year or two around here, and nobody in the hood is on it. So I get all the bandwidth and clock in over 3000 all the time. . .

DSL has much better latency. Gaming is better, as well as web browsing. For just straight up download speed, Cable definitely has the advantage (in most cases).

I am sitting on a Qwest DS3 at work. My god it's nice downloading at like 10 meg/second :)

roadrunner at home. i like it. gotta unplug the router every once in a while, other then that its great.

Same here. RR is great, but my Linksys wireless router needs to be unplugged/reset once every 3-4 days (didn't have that problem with my previous Linksys which wasn't wireless). Lately, RR has expanded quite a bit, so my download times aren't like they used to be (I've clocked up to 960kB/sec downloads, which is almost 7.7 MB/sec).

Since Cisco bought linksys, it has gone down the shitter for some reason. We have quit using Linksys routers and switches on installs because of major problems with them lately. When I heard Cisco was buyin em, I figured that would mean great things.

Mili (and BN27), I had a very similar problem with my Linksys wireless router. I called their 800 number, and after getting by the first level of phone support, a guy had me download some software upgrades into the router. It's been 10 times better since. Sorry, it was a few months ago, so I don't have the tech details on what the software level was, etc.
