Welcome to the fifth installment of the "Greatest Buckeyes Ever" poll - this one allows you to vote for the best Buckeye wide receiver. Every Saturday, we will post a poll on "Who's the Greatest Buckeye" at each of the positions. The last poll, head coach, will open on the day of THE GAME, and close on December 30th. By New Years Day, we will have the Buckeye Planet All-Time Buckeye Team.

All players selected for the poll will be from the "modern era", which we have more-or-less arbitrarily determined to have begun with the hiring of Woody Hayes in 1951. However, there will be a special poll for the older Buckeye stars, where you will be allowed to choose amongst such greats as Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, Chic Harley, etc.

Please vote on each poll, if you can. Also, please note that each poll will allow you to vote at least twice, as we would like to compile a first and second team. If you vote for "other", please let us know your selection(s) by setting forth the name(s) in a post.

Amongst OSU receivers, Rambo is #9 all-time in catches with 106, #10 all-time in yards with 1,849; he also has two of the best receiving games ever at OSU (181 yards vs. Ohio U in 1999; 179 yards vs. Iowa in 1999). In addition, Rambo was a team captain in 2000. Is he the greatest ever? Doubtful. Does he belong on the list? Probably.

Lets not forget Mr Jenkins being the all time OSU yardage leader with Steve Bellisary and Craig Krenzel as his QB's.

In my book Boston, Jenkins and Carter are the must have 3 then its a call between Galloway and Glenn.

Carter had the best hands ever....Boston was the most prolific....Jenkins had more clutch catches than the rest put together.

If I could only pick one it would be remarkably difficult to choose but I'll take Jenkins, Boston and Carter in that order. My main criteria is what they do when it really counts(no one will ever match Jenkins number of huge clutch catches) with the all time numbers an important second.

Paul Warfield wasn't a wide out at OSU?

Correct, he wasn't. Technically, he was a halfback, even though he led the Bucks in receiving in 1962 (a whopping 8 catches for 139 yards, a decent game for a WR in Tress's offense) and 1963 (22 catches for 266 yards). Warfield is listed in the "athlete" poll, where he is the leading vote-getter.

Carter, Boston, Jenkins, and Gary Williams.

With apologies to Glenn, Galloway and White Lightning (Donley).

Glenn won the Biletnikof but didn't start enough games to make my top 4 (he only had 266 career yards outside of his great 95 season).

I still remember yelling when Williams caught the bomb from Schlichter just before halftime in the 1980 Rose Bowl. One of the great pass play memories, alond with Holy Buckeye, 4th and 14, Glenn going 82 against ND, and Boston's Rose Bowl winner.

Williams also had 13 catches for 220 yards against Florida St. in 1981.

Since the instructions call for four votes, I say Carter, Jenkins, Boston, Galloway in that order. Would have voted for Warfield if he wasn't in the athlete poll. I have a tape of the 87 Cotton Bowl and Carter's performance in that game was outstanding. I would venture to say he was double teamed on just about every pass play, and the Aggies still couldn't stop him. He's a for-sure first vote NFL Hall of Famer.
