We have two 4x6 raised beds. Ever read "Square Foot Gardening"? Excellent! Tomatoes and lettuce are best home grown. We do "Early Girls" or Early Boys because of the harsh environment, here. I love "Salad Bowl" lettuce.

I wanted a garden when I owned a house, but it's tough to manage without occasionally being home during daylight hours. Had a great herb garden, though... huge bay window with shelves just filled with different kinds of mint, rosemary, thyme, basil, etc. Made the place smell great and cooking was much more fun. Gave them all away rather than try to figure out how to transport them, though, and I still haven't felt much like "settling in" here.
