I'm not trying to argue (not on purpose, at least) that the whining in basketball is more pronounced than it is in football, just that I think a playoff system for football would create more whining, not less. If there are 16 teams, one or two BCS conferences will end up with 3 (or maybe even 4) bids into the playoff, and you know that the conference that only ends up with one bid *cough* ACC *cough* is going to piss all over themselves to decry what is obviously a bias against them.

I mean, hell, the only teams whose NC hopes are affected by conference strength right now are those in contention for the NC game, which is 2-4 teams. But if there were numerous teams clamoring for the final 3 spots in a playoff, I expect this nonsense would reach an unprecented level.

I think we can agree that this "My favorite team's conference would kick your favorite team's conference's ass" crap is tired and really quite irrelevant. :cheers:

Moaning about being ranked number 9 and how your favorite team that has 2 losses could win it all, but you got left out because you don't get enough respect because your conference is under-rated.

I look at all the nonsense leading up to the NCAA selection show in March and how every conference thinks their middle-of-the-pack teams deserves that last #9 seed.
