Which team is the most underrated team in college football?

Captain Hindsight

The Hero of the Modern Age
In my opinion, Wisconsin is extremely underrated because they are in the Big Ten and have been overshadowed by Ohio State and Michigan. Most years an 11-1 team in a major conference will earn a BCS bid, not a third-place finish.

I'm not sure that you could call the #5-6 ranked team (Wisconsin) underrated. They didn't make a BCS game due to the rule of only 2 teams being allowed from the same conference.

I think that Wake Forest is underrated, they have a very solid football team and are ranked 15.

Wisconsin didn't play that tough of a schedule.

Even though they are in a BCS game, I'd say Oklahoma.
Agree completely. Wisconsin played no one OOC, and the rest of the b10 is pretty mediocre this year. I would not bet on or against Wisky in this bowl game.

OU should be a 1-loss team (Oregon nonsense), which is unbelievable considering the loss of their QB, C, and then AP for 7 games. Stoops has done an unbelievable job with that team this year.

To offer an original suggestion: I think LSU is a bit underrated. Not necessarily in the polls, but they do not receive as much national talk as they should. If Russell comes back they could be a very strong team in 07.

Yup. The one good team that Wiscy played (scUM), they looked like an undisciplined mess. I remember screaming at their kick returner to take a fucking touchback like five times, and he'd continue to bring it out and get creamed at the 11-12 yard line.
I'd agree on Oklahoma. They're playing about as good as anyone in the country now. For all they've had to overcome, they had a nice season. Still hate 'em though.

I'll jump on the Thump bandwagon as well...I think Wisconsin is vastly overated this year, based on the competition on their schedule. And I would agree that given the turmoil they faced with Bomar and whoever else that Oklahoma quietly had a solid season that not many people took note of.

I also think Virginia Tech also quietly had a decent season...I know that many people, myself included, kind of wrote them off after their back to back losses to GT and BC (the latter of which was particularly ugly). But they rattled off 6 wins in a row to end the season (including wins over Clemson [the media darling at that time], Miami [who proved to be pretty bad, at least offensively], Wake and Virginia). They now get Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl...and who knows which Georgia team will show up (the one that lost to Kentucky and Vanderbilt and squeaked by Colorado or the one that won big at Auburn and played Florida tough in The Swamp).

BYU is another team that had a nice year...played a very good BC team tough on the road, beat a decent TCU team and had a QB who put up some great numbers. John Beck finished the year with a 173 QB rating with 30 TDs against only 6 INTs and averaged 319 yards/game.

For underrated teams, lets select a team that is UNrated. I think an unrated team is way more easily deemed underrated.

Cinncy is playing some tough football right now.

Houston is got a good team nad its Kolbs year.

Hawai'i's offense can put 30 up on anyone right now, god help their Defense shows up at the same time.

Georgia's Defense is strong and their offense is starting to jell ( I know its a little late )

Wisconsin IS NOT UNDERRATED!!!! If you are in the Top 10 (remember that is the top 9% of football) You can not be underrated!?!?!?!?! They got robbed yes, the WOULD have been in the BCS if there was no stupid rules... And I believe the top 25 can only be overrated.... Nebraska, Texas, Boise State, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech.....

Florida is way too underrated. SEC champ with all that speed should be ranked #1.

tOSU just won Big Ten outright. That's nothing. Who did we play? no one.

I think you should stop the debate. Florida is most underrated team this year.

I think that a Top-25 team CAN be underrated. Perhaps the only team that can't be underrated is #1. For instance, if Florida beats Ohio State 63-3 (knock on wood), I think that will show that Florida was underrated at #2.

Of course, that's using the rankings as the rating system. But they don't need to be your rating system. A team can be rated on a 1-100 scale. Or, maybe each aspect (quarterbacks, running backs, o-line, etc.) can be rated on the 1-100 scale. The final ratings for those teams may not coincide with the rankings, either human or computer. They may not coincide with what actually happens on the field.

Of course, the ratings may not even be numerical, where you can even compare them to other teams logically. As someone said, LSU is underrated, because they get little respect from national media. That has nothing to do with their rankings, or any rating system. Ohio State, on the other hand, is the 2006 version of 2005 USC, and 2002 Miami. Ohio State gets boatloads of media attention. Ohio State may get 50 times more airtime on ESPN than LSU gets. Does that mean that Ohio State would beat LSU 150-3?

Tsun is underated, just ask them. :wink2:

F #1, we should be like #1/2, we're that good :tongue2:

I think Louisville is most underrated. If you put their players in, say, Criminoles uniforms, they'd be getting hype from every corner of the nation. Hell, even WVU uniforms would garner more respect. The name "Louisville" means they're flying under the radar.

Either them, or it's Ball State :wink2:

Another underrated team is Tennessee. They lost to Florida by a point, lost to LSU by 4, and lost at Arkansas.

They killed Cal early in the year, don't have a bad loss, and they're ranked 17/18. On a neutral field, I'd take them against ND, Wake, Rutgers, and West Virginia, who are all ranked ahead of them because they all have 2 losses playing lesser schedules.
