If they end up BCS #1 or #2, they're in the Title Game.
If they are the highest ranked non-AQ team in the BCS rankings (and finish in the top-12) but are not in the Title Game, and the BCS Title game includes a Pac Ten team and/or a Big Ten team, the Rose Bowl is required to select Boise State as a replacement pick.
If the BCS Title Game includes TCU against a Pac Ten team or a Big Ten team, the Rose Bowl won't be required to take Boise State (even if they're BCS #3), but they will have the option of selecting Boise State and fulfilling their once-in-the-next-4-years-non-AQ requirement.
After the Title Game gets BCS #1 and #2, the conference champions not in the BCS Title Game are slotted: (Rose gets Pac Ten and Big Ten, Sugar gets SEC, Orange gets AC, and Fiesta gets Big XII).
Then the bowl that lost BCS #1 gets a replacement pick, followed by the bowl that lost BCS #2 getting a replacement pick.
Then the final selections are in this order:
Sugar
Orange
Fiesta (last pick)
All 6 AQ champions must be placed in one of the 10 BCS bowl spots, so Pitt or whoever comes out of the Big East has to go to either the Sugar, Orange, or Fiesta. No conference can have more than 2 teams selected, since this year no league will have both the BCS #1 and #2 teams without one of them winning that conference.
At least one of the non-AQ teams has to be in the BCS bowls in they are in the BCS top-12.
