Where to buy area rug?

Actually you can go to any carpet place, check out their remnants... typically it is much cheaper to find a piece and have it bound... unless, of course, you are seeking some fancy-schmancy type of rug...

I've also seen people posted up by gas stations in Miami selling them.

I'm just sayin...

There are some of those around Columbus, too. One I've seen several times is at the intersection of 161 and Karl Rd. Near where the MCL is (or used to be) located.

Thanks, was not aware of 'remnants', we're looking for something suitable but probably temporary, as we'll likely move out of here within 2-3 years.

You've really got a few options around Central Ohio, such as Rite Rug, Buddy's Carpet Barn, and others.

You can walk into any Rite Rug and they'll have two sections of remnants, one group that is already bound and rolled ready for sale, and another of scraps that are not bound that you can order from and have completed overnight or in two days to a specific dimension. Since they're selling you scraps off depleted rolls, or leftovers from a previous installation, you get quite a deal, as you're basically buying carpet that someone else already bought and didn't use.

Wife and I bought a 14' x 10' rug for our office at Rite Rug about 18 months ago, and we only paid $85 or $90 for it. An 11 x 13 area rug from Lowes (a standard size) would have cost $400+. You should only be paying around .50 - .60 cents per sq foot on remnants, so you might be able to score a 5x7 area rug for only $20-25 (same thing from Lowes might run you $70). Only caveat is that you're not likely to find remnants in any fancy symmetric textures/patterns.

Did he also sell tennis shoes and sandals? If so, I think I bought a couple pair of sandals from that guy a year or so ago. He was from Morocco. I bought them at the corner of Agler and Westerville Rd; however, he said on certain days he sold his stuff on 161 too. The sandals were a fantastic deal.

No clue. I generally don't buy things from people standing on street corners. (Recreational drugs being the noted exception). :pimp:
