Great response BuckeyeSoldier. This thread sets new records for ignorance and stupidity. It's not suprising to see a why a complete shit for brains like Milly is so popular here. yeah, let's blame all the problems in the country on poor people and take away their children. Hmm..when is somebody going to forbid Kenneth Lay from seeing his children? Oh, I get it, he's a white collar criminal, the emphisis being WHITE.
Maybe we should castrate all members of the prison system while we're at it too.

Once you start making some money and have to start treating the poor do you think your attitude will change?

I have thought of responding to the fix 'em posts earlier.
While it is an extreme response to a problem if you see how many of these kids live and what they go through daily you would realize that maybe they would have been better off not being introduced to such a pitiful existence.

Personal responsibility should be extend to all races, social classes and political parties. It just takes different forms.

Social Security should be stopped as well... why continue a system that will not work. If this was corporate USA they would all be in prison for some of this junk... lets talk about that if you want to bring corporate america into things... tibs...

I also think if congress and the pres. was forced to accept social security and not their seperate retirement system, there would be more action. However what do multi millionaire's care about a grand a month anyway...???

Yes all these freeloaders need to be taken of the government doal. I remeber the case of this one freeloader. He expected everything to be given to him his whole life, well okay not his whole life he was 58 at the time he applied for welfare. But the nerve of the fucking loser, I mean just because he worked his whole life now he figured he was entitled to a handout. He should have just went out a got a job. Well okay he couldn't get a job due to the cancer ravaging his body at the time. Boo Hoo, the loser should have saved up his money and prepared for that possability. Okay well so he did, he just had to spend it all on treatment after his employer fired him for not showing up to work and he lost his insurance. Imagine that the fucking lazy bastard doesn't even show up to work and now he wants a government handout. Okay so he was too busy having chemo. Still that's not my fucking problem is it. The dumbass should have went to his family, they should have taken care of him. Okay so his only son was in school at the time and even though his son was working while going to school and did move in with him to help take care of the bills, which eventually drove his son into bankruptcy (Imagine that another freeloader, thinking it was more important to buy his father's pain medicine than to pay his bills). Still, it's not my problem. FUCK HIM, HE DESERVED TO DIE PENNYLESS. THAT MEDICAL CARD HE GOT CAME OUT OF MY POCKET. FUCK HIM, HIS CANCER WAS NOT MY PROBLEM, FREELOADING LOSER, JUST BECAUSE HE WORKED HIS ASS OFF HIS WHOLE LIFE, SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN VIETNAM. HE THINKS HE'S ENTITLED NOW!!!!NOT MY PROBLEM!!!! Oh wait, that was my Dad, I guess it was my problem.

my mother has cancer, got it right before she retired, at about the same age, so I empathize with you, and I don't think anyone questioning the merits of our current welfare system is saying that situations like yours are what everyone is talking about.

First of all the I must say the only personal experience I have with Welfare is some of my extended family members who are on it and who are definetly abusing the system. They don't work, keep having children and are generally creating a cycle of need for themselves and their children.

With that being said and my understanding how Welfare can be an unneeded crutch, I think the Welfare program does something so wonderfully American we shouldn't denounce it because of a few bad apples. It allows people a way out, the country was built on all people being equal, but financial status leaves some people born or put into situations where their disadvantage means they can't get out of the hole on their own. Being born poor shouldn't mean you just lost the cosmic roll of the dice, sure people abuse the system, but there are a lot of cases where kids of welfare mothers reach amazing heights.

People claiming Welfare is a drag on the gov't are grossly misinformed, what people generally understand as welfare, AFDC and Foodstamps make up about 1% of the gov't budget. As has been mentioned, corporate welfare and tax breaks dwarf this part of the budget.

Be pissed off when people abuse it, but be thankful a lot of people are being given the shot at the American Dream.
