When and How will Carr be Traded-In?

Agree with ORD. No matter how bad Michigan looks for the rest of the year, Carr has "earned" the right to finish out the season...but in return for letting him finish the season, the UM administration will be expecting his "retirement" immediately after NLOID (if not right after their last game).

The big question is whether Les Miles will leave LSU or Tedford will leave Berkeley for Ann Arbor.

No way Miles leaves LSU whether he's a scUM Man or not.

Tedford would be the more likely of the two but at this point, I have no idea who it would be if it happens.

I think that he might announce his retirement during the season, but coach out the final game against Ohio State. Presuming that they are not bowl eligible, I'd expect him to do that during the week leading up to The Game. There is simply NO WAY that he would willingly pass up his last shot at Tressel.

I doubt he annouces before NLOID...major coaching changes affect recruiting.

Les is a done deal. He's signed, sealed and delivered. He's been mum on the questions about whether he'd jump since the loss to Appy St., and his contract has a very small ($1.3M) buyout for one team and one team only. Michigan.

Les Miles will walk from Baton Rouge to Ann Arbor when they call him.

I would be willing to put some vCash on that one!

True, at least when they are unexpected, I completely agree. I am presuming an orderly hand-off, more like Alvarez stepping aside with Bielema ready to take the reins. Michigan, however, doesn't appear to have an heir-apparent in the wings, and a continuation-type coaching change may no longer be appropriate for them, so that may not be a valid presumption.

Also, given the comments of the recruits afte the Oregon game, a pre-NLOID coaching change might be neccessary in order to preserve their recruiting class.

Really, if this season continues to be the sort of failure that it looks to be, I can't imagine that anyone would believe in January or February 2008 that Carr would be returning for another season.

Though one of them may, I wouldn't be too surprised if they didn't. Tedford has a good job at Cal and Les Miles is doing very well over at LSU, I realize that a lot of fans don't like Miles but if he wins a NC this year I am sure that will change.

It's funny to me, I have been reading Missagain blogs today, I like to read their misery and some actually think they can get Pete Carroll to leave USC for the tsun job.

Right now the scUM job doesn't look to appealing in my opinion, a lot of recruits are thinking twice and the teams needs pretty much a full rebuild. Not to mention you know that at the end of every year is a rival team that is doing well in recruiting and loves nothing more than to kick the crap out of you.

I held the same opinion heading into the season, but after a disastrous two games and an almost assured regime change... it might be helpful for that new coach (esp if he is an NFL guy) to regain momentum before NLOID.

I agree with Ord. Michigan is very pr conscious. Also very recruiting savvy. I think Lloyd announces his resignation shortly before the game (It doesn't get capitals this year) and goes out with Henne, Hart and Long.

Speaking of which, H, H and L are taking a financial beating. Lets be honest, had this been buckeyes...say Teddy and Gonzo... we'd have spent the summer talking about their values, chosing college over money, etc, etc.

Of the three I think Hart stands the most to lose. There isn't going to be much left of him by the end of the season. Oregon lined up and went after him from the first play on. I thought sure he'd had a hamstring pull in the second quarter. If that goes, he's out for most of the season and no better than 75% until next year. He may annoy OSU fans, but I think he shows a good deal of "Hart" on the field.

JMO but He probably salvage his job if he were to win out, including the bowl game.
If he retires on a high note (finally beating OSU & a bowl opponent), that seems like his best time to retire as well.

Or he could take on a veteran buckeye squad in columbus with a brand new QB, RB, LT & possibly 1-2 wrs.

I'd take the former.

Yes me too. but look at JoePa and what he did. He's what 80 now? wondering if Lloyd would have any less drive.
I saw Lloyd in an interview just this am and he had fire and drive in his voice.
