What the heck is wrong with me?

VprHis

Get off my lawn, you hooligans!
Weather Forecast:

Tonight-- 11deg. wind chill -10. 2-4 inches of snow.
Tomorrow-- high near 16. wind chill still -10. 3-5 inches of snow.

What am I planning on doing?

Going to get out my smoker and fix me some ribs.

Assuming the dang thing doesn't blow over again, in which case I guess I'll end up with steamed ribs. :)

The only thing wrong I see is that you left out the beer.

I love ribs. You slow cook them until the meat just falls off the bone. I have a smoker too. It's electric and it'll do a turkey, but it takes 4 hours IRCC. It is worth the wait though. Don't forget to come in from the cold and watch some of the playoff games. Let me know how the ribs turn out. And the beer!!!!

Impossible to answer what is wrong with you until we hear how you are grilling the ribs....you will get some points for using charcoal...but we need more details.

Sorry, no charcoal. gas-fired water smoker (mix of hickory and apple chips for the smoke)

The most overrated statistic in weather. The temperature is what it is. I can't stand when the media tries to over-dramatize external effects. Don't flinch, barbeque them ribs.

Overrated, but still useful, in the sense that the wind makes it more unpleasant. more wind, less pleasant.

...and I said nothing of flinching. :)

my neighbors in Lansing all thought I was crazy 'cause I grilled year round. I just like my food tasty and fired up.

'Tis a thing of beauty, it is. I'm sitting in my book-hole (aka library) on the Lazyboy, watching the smoker do its thing. At least as much as I can see through the snow. The neighbors are coming to terms with my eccentricities, I think. Too bad they have to smell my tasty cooking.

...too bad for them, anyway. I decided to put a good smoke on 'em, then finish in the oven where the heat will be a bit more even. THat and I'm worried about the smoker falling over again.
