This is a debate in the office right now...it is about an LSAT score...but you could apply it to any standardized test in which if you take the test more than once, they take an average of the two scores.

For those who don't know, the LSAT is scored from a 120 to a 180. Most people getting in the 150s.

You can take the test multiple times, but schools take the average, even though they get to see two scores.

Would you rather take the test twice and get a 163 the first time and a 168 the second time (for a 166 avg.)

or would you rather get a 153 the first time and a 168 the second time (161 avg.) but hope that the scores are SOOO different that the schools would look at the first score, hoping that they would know that something was obviously wrong the first time and would focus more on your good score.

I think that you'd rather want the 163 and 168...and that wanted your first score to be A LOT lower is just a stupid idea. But that's just me.

EdDantes has to be behind this.
surprisingly, nope, different co-worker. I work in a law office, so he's not the only legal eagle here. I wouldn't consider myself a legal eagle though...cuz i'm just using this for filler during the off season...honestly i'm probably the dumbest guy here...or the smartest, depending on how you look at it. Eddantes is an arrogant, pretentious guy though, that's for sure.

I scored a 77 out of 80 on the math part of the PSAT. Which equals out to a 770.

Is that good? I scored something like the 98 percentile in the country.

Oh yeah - I scored a 790 on the GMAT. That put me over the 99th percentile. Is that good?

Message: If you are going to attempt to brag - just come out with it. Better to sound arrogant than silly.

I have no idea what the GMAT is. But if your calling me a liar, then your wrong. Altough I didn't score top in my class. Some kid had a perfect score.

Wasnt insinuating that, but while you're being defensive, in retrospect I do find it somewhat odd that someone would score so highly on a math test and yet somehow be ignorant of whether 98 percentile was good or not....

ahh, the LSAT... first I think standardized tests just blow... however, I would think a score of 163 and 168 would be preferred because it proves you are a more consistant, psycho-socially stable person... a 153 and 168 proves you're just all over the place... Oh wait, we are talking about lawyers though... just as the 153 could be a fluke so could the 168...
