This is a debate in the office right now...it is about an LSAT score...but you could apply it to any standardized test in which if you take the test more than once, they take an average of the two scores.
For those who don't know, the LSAT is scored from a 120 to a 180. Most people getting in the 150s.
You can take the test multiple times, but schools take the average, even though they get to see two scores.
Would you rather take the test twice and get a 163 the first time and a 168 the second time (for a 166 avg.)
or would you rather get a 153 the first time and a 168 the second time (161 avg.) but hope that the scores are SOOO different that the schools would look at the first score, hoping that they would know that something was obviously wrong the first time and would focus more on your good score.
I think that you'd rather want the 163 and 168...and that wanted your first score to be A LOT lower is just a stupid idea. But that's just me.
