Obviously in different regions there are different stores. But, where do you prefer to buy groceries on a whole? I live Whole Foods, but it's so expensive... my choice is Trader Joe's. Always affordable and great quality.

Too expensive.

At the Krogers now they have a grocery cart with items bought at Giant Eagle and Kroger and the receipt from each and I believe the Giant Eagle receipt is for something like $100 and the Kroger one is for something like $85.

Not for pop (12 pack - $2.50), cereal ($2 or $2.50 frequent sales), frozen dinners, and a number of other generic items.

They do the exact same thing at giant eagle, and I believe the difference is more like 45-50. I would consider the source before basing it on that.

How many of those items do you purchase on a regular basis?

FWIW, we shop at Giant Eagle for day to day stuff. I do prefer the quality and choices offered at Weilands though.

The selection isn't great for certain things (such as reduced fat items - they went months without such for peanut butter), but the common items are usually the cheapest there.

I've purchased items from both and Giant Eagle was more expensive. My guess is they justify it by the gas price reductions.

I also like Giant Eagle's lines better (prob just a local coincidence)... very rarely do I have to wait for more than 1 person there.

I might have to look into that... pop is the easiest for me to remember and costs a lot more at kroger (you aren't buying brand name 12 packs for $2.50... more like 3.50-4), but I'm not sure on the other items.
