A year or so ago I put up a poll on the greatest American Rock & Roll band. Somewhere in the thread I made a comment about how if it were mixed that Brits might all finish in the top 5. Then for some reason I never got around to putting together a poll for the invaders from across the pond.

Until now.

So now is your chance to vote for your top 5 British Rockers.

Hey wait...that's not what you had up first! I was all stoked about the Clash love

I left Bowie off because he was primarily a solo act (apologies to the Spiders). Same with guys like Elton, Beck & Clapton (although four bands he was a member of made it).

I'm really surprised to see the Beatles so low on some people's lists. They really combined rock and pop into its modern form.

That being said, I would say Led Zeppelin was as big influentially as the Beatles were. You really can't go wrong with either one. So I guess my list would go:

1a) Beatles
1b) Led Zeppelin
(Huge gap)
2) The Jimi Hendrix Experience
3) The Rolling Stones
4) Queen
5) The Who

I would add that the Yardbirds were an extremely underrated band and continue to be to this day.

I ranked them based on musical preference, not cultural influence. The Who are influential, but I don't like their music.

Impossible.

Beatles
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Jethro Tull
King Crimson
Emerson Lake & Palmer
Yes
Iron Maiden

This is my Top 8 in no order. Absolutely impossible for me to prune this or rank them. Culturally, I think the Beatles have to be #1.

And I've got tickets for Muse tonight at Value City Arena. :)
