Worst yet, everyone in the class has to read their essays out loud. Its not the part of writing the essay that is hard for me, its reading it out loud to everyone.
If you have to read it out loud, make up some crazy stuff like wolverine hunting in the Yukon and extracting a private from behind enemy lines when his brothers all died.
Add in your game winning homerun in the LLWS with your story about being molested by a drop dead gorgeous teacher when you were 11. The scholarship offer from Duke's Lacrosse team would be of interest to them too.
Make it funny.
You gotta have fun with it. Seize the moment. Get a laugh or two.Yeah.....I just don't like standing infront of everyone and talking. Its part of the grade. Theres certain things that I can talk about infront of people, talking about my life is not one of them....if you know what I mean.
Its public speaking. You have three goals:Having fun with it will most likely get me a bad grade. Lets just say, my teacher isn't the "fun" type.
I think what I'm trying to say is, I'm more of the "shy" type. Simply put, I don't like talking infront of people. Its hard for me to do it. Thats my problem. Its public speaking. You have three goals:
1. Get your audience's attention
2. Deliver your message and stay on topic
3. Finish strong
If it isn't interesting, your audience is lost before you begin. You have to spice it up with properly placed anecdotes and important points.
