What is everyone doing for Labor Day?

Went to a cook out at my grandmother's house earlier. I gotta do homework now, a essay about me:(.

Totally forgot about the FSU-Miami game tonight. Speaking of that game. I'm sure everyone has heard all of the commercials for all the camera angles that are going to be shown tonight, including close ups of Bobby Bowden. Am I the only one that doesn't want to see close ups of Bobby Bowden?

Worst yet, everyone in the class has to read their essays out loud. Its not the part of writing the essay that is hard for me, its reading it out loud to everyone.

If you have to read it out loud, make up some crazy stuff like wolverine hunting in the Yukon and extracting a private from behind enemy lines when his brothers all died.
Add in your game winning homerun in the LLWS with your story about being molested by a drop dead gorgeous teacher when you were 11. The scholarship offer from Duke's Lacrosse team would be of interest to them too.

Make it funny.

Yeah.....I just don't like standing infront of everyone and talking. Its part of the grade. Theres certain things that I can talk about infront of people, talking about my life is not one of them....if you know what I mean.

Having fun with it will most likely get me a bad grade. Lets just say, my teacher isn't the "fun" type.
Its public speaking. You have three goals:

1. Get your audience's attention
2. Deliver your message and stay on topic
3. Finish strong

If it isn't interesting, your audience is lost before you begin. You have to spice it up with properly placed anecdotes and important points.

I think what I'm trying to say is, I'm more of the "shy" type. Simply put, I don't like talking infront of people. Its hard for me to do it. Thats my problem.

Tell a story about how you once ran for student council and it was a very close vote, but rather than demanding a recount you made a public statement saying that your opponent won.

In other words, what Saw31 said - give a 'concession' speech.
