It’s a short week. And I’m in a crabby mood because of all the whiney SOB, I mean, SEC coaches complaining about Ohio State’s football schedule.

The mighty SEC. A conference that hasn’t won a title in two years and wasn’t even in the championship game last year. Hmmmmm. Bret Bielema was among the most outspoken. Here’s what he had to say.

Take a look at the non-league games from the SEC this season: Middle Tennessee (twice), UL-Monroe (twice), Tennessee-Martin (twice), Western Carolina (twice). Charleston Southern, Jacksonville State, Idaho, San Jose State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, UL-Lafayette, McNeese State, Northwestern State, Louisiana Tech, SE Missouri State, Arkansas State, The Citadel, North Texas and Austin Peay. There are a few other directional Kentucky schools I left out.

So before the SEC coaches complain about the B1G being weak, they should look at their non-league slate. Oh, but the SEC conference schedule is so tough. As of now maybe. But let’s see how many are ranked at the end. When teams beat up on each other I don’t call it parity. I call it weakness.

Anyhow, I need a vacation. I would love to go to Hawaii. Speaking of which, OSU plays the Rainbows in a quick turnaround game thanks to the Monday nighter in Blacksburg.
Let’s get this one over so the boys can get some rest. Here’s what our crack tBBC staff is anticipating:

Scott (the author of this libelous article)
A quick win: Let’s put up 50 in the first half and rest the regulars (without burning redshirt years). Maybe a Stephen Collier sighting?
A healthy win: No injuries, please.
A few sustained drives: I know putting up 50 in the first half will be difficult if the Bucks don’t strike quickly. But I would love to see a couple 80 or 85-yard drives culminating with a short TD run or pass.
No personal fouls: This should be self-explanatory but in case any Michigan fans are reading … Play hard but play smart. Don’t clip, facemask, etc.

Let’s see more of this on Saturday.

WVa Buckeye
Special, special teams: Work hard during the two days to prepare at getting better. Long way to go.
Defense wins: Take their playmakers out of the game early by shutting them down with the best linebackers in America. Make them lay a goose egg
Zeke and Brax: Even with all the playmakers the Buckeyes have right now, let these two lead. Want to see them blow up early Saturday.

Ken (Since he still does things his way, I have added a couple things to each of his the items on his wish list.)
A win: Don’t lose.
No injuries: Stay healthy
No turnovers: Take care of the ball
No high snaps from Boren: Snap it correctly.
Improved formatting: What was wrong with last week’s?

Jason
Points: Lots of them. From lots of faces in the cast of characters.
Ground: Get Zeke 15-18 touches, should be all he needs to break 150 or so and get a couple scores.
Pound: Defense, sacks and turnovers. Oh my!
Special teams: Be special or at least look better than last week.
No remorse: Put it on these guys from the second the ball is kicked and don’t let up until the final whistle.

Patrick
Carries: He only had ten, I want to see a 20 carry performance by EZE.
Shutout: The defense was fooled several times and at times looked like the old defense who let teams score at will.
Braxton: Continue the Heisman run, get him the ball at least 10-12 times.

Charles
Disciplined defense: Defense got confused and looked vulnerable to mis-direction plays at times last week.
Establish the running game: VT is hard to run on consistently, Hawaii should be easier.
No injuries: There were a lot of injuries around the county last week, let’s avoid adding to that list.
Four Script Ohios: It’s alumni band weekend!

Joe
Continued improvement for Cardale: Who knows if Jones will get the start, but if he does, I’d love to see the offense continue to evolve around him. Jones had a solid game against Virginia Tech, but his decision making could surely improve in certain offensive situations.
Get Campbell the ball: Urban Meyer said in his weekly call-in show that Paris Campbell earned the start against Hawaii with his solid play against Tech. The only negative of note: two dropped passes. Meyer added that the best way to fix that issue is to keep getting him the ball. I’d love to see the youngster get his chance to shine against Hawaii with at least five targets.
True freshman stand up: Zero true freshman played against VT last week. It’s time to give the young blood of the program a taste of what Ohio Stadium is like on Saturdays.
Seven straight 40+: The Buckeyes scored 40+ in their sixth straight game dating back to last season, an Ohio State first. Let’s add another to that total against what should be an overwhelmed defense.
Battle through: It’s a short week for the Bucks, who come into Saturday with just four prep days, while Hawaii has had 10 days to get ready for OSU. It’s a tough spot to be in, but the Buckeyes need to battle through the bumps and bruises in week two to get the second units on the field quicker.
Stop Wittek and Pedroza: Hawaii has two major weapons in the pass game, veteran quarterback Max Wittek and receiver Quinton Pendroza. If those two are kept in check, it will be a very long afternoon for Hawaii.

Mali Buckeye
Healthy: No injuries at all, particularly not for our starters.
Wealthy: Spread the wealth, spread the opportunities. Let’s let the young Bucks get their fill.
Wise: No false starts. This means on special teams as well.
Bonus: I really am digging the Hawai’i rainbow uniforms … but I wish they were playing a night game for this one.
