What did you get the kids of the family for gifts?

I just give my sisters kids Money and a few small items

My kids get money, so they can buy what they want. My daughter 19, gets Abercrombie & Fitch clothes. My son 11, gets Buckeye stuff and a Carson Palmer jersey, and he loves baseball, basketball, & football cards so I hook him up

I buy for my brother's kidlets - engraved jewelry for my older niece, magnetic linking thingies for the little guy, and Fisher Price-type goodies for the baby girl. A few little extras and we're good to go.

The 10-yr old grandson really wants Healies, so we got him a pair of those. Wants that new Nintendo, too, but that has to wait for his birthday.

Both the 10 and 4 yr old are getting an air hockey table and an adjustable basketball pole.

Also need ice skates for the 4 yr old. Anyone with experience in buying those for a young girl...I would appreciate your input. We are having trouble finding rental skates at the rink that she is comfortable in.

Yeah, I buy for the brothers' kids, too. I was thinking about the magnetic linking things, too - how are they? For the 4-year-old guy, it's a toss up between those and Gears! Gears! Gears! Anyone have any idea which is better?

And has anyone ever tried those Creations by Me products? My 7-year-old niece loves reading, and she writes little "books" fairly frequently. They have a product called IlluStory, which allows the kids to draw pictures and write text for a book, send it in, and receive a hard bound, type-set copy of their work. I think this has the potential to be very cool or very cheesy...

(I'm shopping solely online, so it's a little hard to tell. It got good reviews on Amazon, but I'm not sure how much I trust people who review stuff on Amazon...)

Still not sure what the 2-year-old nephew is getting either, except for the Big Book of Trains.

Loud musical instruments.
Nothing better than buying your brothers' kids the loudest toys you can find. I've tried to back off of the the past couple years, though, as I've realized paybacks just might be a bitch someday...

I haven't tried them (tempted, to be sure), but I hear they're supposed to be the big thing right now. I bought the glow-in-the-dark ones since he might get them from more than one source. We'll have to have the talk about keeping them far away from the baby, though.

Almost picked up Gears! instead. They look like more fun to me, but my nephew's on the younger side and the linking thingies seemed more appropriate.

the linky things were more of a success here than the gear thingys....
Hmmm... I kind of thought my nephew would be more into gears... he's fascinated by how things work. His favorite thing is the Mousetrap game. But gears weren't so exciting, eh? They make a set where you can make monkeys climb around a jungle - maybe that would be more interesting than the regular set. Has anyone tried that? It seems like you have to buy an awful lot of magnetic linky things before you have enough to do anything...

Oh... and I'm pretty sure they all have aquadoodles already.
