What BP feature do you want?

I just thought it would give us something fun to discuss to throw out ideas for what would be cool to see BP implement down the road once we have a new server (which might be soon). I realize this is probably a thread to put in the administration forum or something, but I doubt any of you check it out regularly. Plus this gives us something more intelligent to discuss rather than the threads that are started by others.

One feature I can't wait to see is the stats engine that was one of the main reasons Clarity created BP in the first place. It got put on hold unselfishly for a while, but it should start becoming more of a reality in the near future as we get a new server. It will allow us to not only look up any statistic you could find elsewhere, but also to do tons of comparisons & queries, such as how does our team run the ball against the Pac-10 or which formations have the most luck against our defense.

I also am excited about the prospect of having Hayn's OSU gameday photographs featured on BP. He wouldn't be affiliated with us but rather allow us to post them here.

personally i doubt i would ever use the stats engine. i imagine i will get in a debate with someone and they will throw stats at it from the past and pretend it is relevant to the here and now. i could see how a current year stats engine would be quite handy, but the historical stuff seems like a lot of buck for little bang.

i would love to see us start some sort of file sharing mechanism for divx or even dvd quality rips of the buckeye games. our own quiet little bit torrent haven. i imagine the guys overseas and out of market would highly appreciate it.

i would love to download some quality rips of older buckeye games i am missing that i know many of you out there have.

i should be freed up a lot more this football season (my plants are moved and i have been promoted enough to be patient for a little while) so i should be able to grab some quality film this year with some luck. i can definitely see me distributing this via bit torrent.

also with dvd burners getting stupid cheap, i can see a demand for more downloadable video on the whole.

I think it would be nice to compile some historical data (sort of an Ohio State Encyclopedia). I think the vCash feature is awsome, but sort of still in its infancy stage. We ought to find more ways to use vCash. Everything should be virtual, of course. But, for now, the only thing that you can do with it is place another vBet. It should have more uses. Some sort of graphics store comes to mind (avatars, etc...). Rep could be tied into vCash somehow (if you can't make friends/respect....you could always buy it)

Just throwing out some ideas.

ever check out www.accvideos.com? I downloaded the 03 and 04 NCSU games from there in Divx. Very cool site. If we could get something like that going on BP it would be great. Considering that almost all the bandwidth is supplied by the users themselves, I wouldn't think that operating the tracker would be too intensive. I'm sure between all the active posters here we could get a few past seasons' worth.

If we did something like this, it would need to not be related to BP. I mean we could have someone from here run it, but tying it to BP is a bad idea.

I like the concept of it tho. It would be better for us to have one user start a site on their own and then talk it up a lot on BP.

I wonder how much they would care about something like that. Outside of perhaps the championship games, those other games they wouldn't be selling anywhere... so they probably wouldn't crack down on it like they would box office movie torrent sites.

I mean if it came down to it, wouldn't it be worth it to just skip the championship game if we could offer the rest of the games (football and basketball) for free?

Just my $0.02

i would think the simplest way would be to leech the webspace of an already existing torrent site and then let them take the risk they are already taking and have us just download/upload from their tracker.

Just watch out for the raids. Suprnova kicked ass, and now I have to do a lot more leg work to get a working tracker for free.

I would like to see a "BP store" eventually. Somewhere where we could go to purchase shirts, DVD's, Posters, Hats, etc. without having to go through one of the members. You go there, click on what you want, pay and it arrives at your door in a couple of weeks. All profits would still go to BP of course and members like LRA, BFS, and DABucks could still have the enjoyment of creating the masterpieces they do. Speaking of DA... I want to see a 2005 Season Higlight film from him... That meatchicken one was awesome, just think about what he could do with a whole season. Maybe make a DVD out of that and seperate the different games into chapters.

Is everyone tired of listening to me talk yet? Shut up Thump... No one cares what you think
