Very interesting Sci Fi classic, that I'd never read before.

Pearl Harbor, a historic fiction novel by Newt Gingrich and William Forstchen. Intersting piece of work in which the authors suppose a world of the 1930s in which the eventual American and British breakers of the Japanese Navy's codes meet Fuchida and Genda prior to Pearl Harbor. Aligns with much of what did happen, Fuchida, Genda and Yamamoto did spend time in the US and were impressed with the country's size and industrial capacity. Ambassador Grew really did love Japan and tried to steer both sides away from war and there was a serious rift between the Japanese army and navy.

Fun for those with an interest in WWII.

First Seal by Roy Boehm, great read, found out a lot of things I did not realize about the Cuban missile crisis, the Viet Nam war and many other things, wow I guess that means I'm ignorant, who knew :tongue2:
Also just finished Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, I knew the wife and kids would want to see the movie, and I always like to read the book first, I really enjoyed reading it.

Our Dumb World, The Onion

Hilarious, but so filled with jokes that you have to take the book in small bites. Right now my copy rests in "the library" wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean by "library?" I read maybe one or two countries a day.

I finished Bob Hubter's book a few days ago, as those in the trivia thread probably figured out. It was a good read; I learned some things about Harley, and it was an interesting look into the early days of Columbus and tOSU football.

Just finished "Christine Falls" by Benjamin Black (aka John Banville)

Banville has proven he has the literary chops to win the Booker Prize, but as Benjamin Black he's slumming it in genre fiction, writing noirish mystery set in 1950s Ireland. The pathologist Quirke is the hero with a dark past which comes tumbling down around him when he starts to look into the mysterious death of one Christine Falls. Beautiful writing, lots of foreboding atmosphere, and a gripping plot: I'll be picking up the follow-up "Silver Swan" later today.
