What are you doing to get jazzed for this Buckeye FB season?

Me? I'm in Ft. Hood talking boat loads of trash with every single person I can get to listen to me about college football. In a place where everyone is from somewhere else...it's extra fun. Mostly playful and light-hearted, except with the douchebag from Michigan who says that this year we'll take them for granted and slip...HAHA. Ordered a new #2 jersey because my Doss/Jenkins one is of the old style. Chumming w/the servers and management at my favorite sports bar to ensure ideal seating and screen arrangements. Ordered a new magnet for the back of the car. Wooha!

Maybe it's just me, but this season has some sort of extra buzz for me. Not just because of the #2 ranking...probably because I can't wait to see how TP performs after that Rose Bowl gem, how nasty John Simon is going to be in the middle, how Dane & DeVier dissect opposing CB's & S's, how Stoneburner changes the complexion of our passing game, how our LB's could be the top if not close corps in the NCAA, how exhausting our RB stable will be on opposing defenses and see how much leadership Johnson shows in the defensive backfield. Tons of buzz. Tons of it!

I've already had my gameday CD playing in my car several times, plan on watching the Rose Bowl when I get home from work tonight (around 4am, thank you, 4th of July weekend...), and exchanging O-H I-Os with my former roommate, as well as guests that I see in the park(s) wearing OSU gear. Also, a proud "Fuck Mi*h*g*n!" to myself whenever I see a plate from that state up north on the road.

Speaking of which, I need to get some more Ohio St. gear for my car...

I have used the same preseason routine for years. Much like our team, it starts in the summer but its really all geared for The Game.

I cruise retirement homes down here looking for wheelchair bound seniors with a block M (for moron) anywhere on their person. Once I find them its just a matter of locating the nearest flight of stairs and timing things just right so they get to hear me sing a full verse of "Don't give a damn" as we are building up speed for them to go wheels up for the last time.

It might not be for everyone (and it causes some collateral damage among the Minnesota/Missouri retirees) but it gets me pumped. It doesn't get me jazzed because while I may be a borderline sociopath, I'm not gay.

I'm thinking about 'Jazz hands'.

Beer in an adequate quantity can induce a certain numbed state which will easily carry one through from the end of BB season until the first game.
Not that most of you guys need me to expound on the virtues of beer nor the vagaries on its influences.
Let me address, if I may, the delectable tastes which are derived, and we most certainly reap from these liquid refreshments with their savory hop and barley tastes.
Behold! the amber color within a chilled and frosty bottle or a glass. Is there anything more pleasing to the human eye than the bubbly fluidity of a cold one to a hot man?
I say Nay! there is but one in the entire world that would be more pleasing but this post does not go into the beauty of the female.
But I digress.
The times and manners we have enjoyed the pleasure of a cold brew would be undiscernable in my very humble opinion.
How many different tastes are opened to our taste buds? The world of beer is an adventure in varieties which no one can travel from one end to the other. Even micro breweries can produce a multitude of different beers and tastes.
And so I submit that we do not need routines or intricate plans to be a bridge from one season to another. All we need is a beer induced euphoria that will produce the state of mind necessary.

I've been getting jazzed up by using bII chord substitutions, along with tritone subs, to rework material already written. For example, Miles Davis wrote a song called "Tune Up" - so, using that as a foundation, and using my method (which I've dubbed Coltrane changes, in honor of the portion of me that is John Coltrane), wrote a song which I call Count Down.

For me, the season starts about 3 hours before tickets go on sale. Since then, I've watched every game from last year, learned about all the new numbers people are wearing, purchased a new jersey, and played NCAA 2011 demo 98248945945378 times.
I'm ready for Marshal so I can get my drink on and hit a night game before going to work on Friday.

I've downloaded the demo of NCAA 11 for the PS3. OSU vs The "WHO" is one of the demo matchups. I just enjoy kicking the crap out of them over and over even it does only let you play 2 minute quarters. Can't wait for season!!!

SNAPPY
